Five Elements and Bagua Analysis

The Five Elements and Bagua are divided into Yin-Yang, Five Elements and Bagua theory. The "Five Elements" specifically refers to the elements of metal, wood, water, fire, and earth. The theory of the "Five Elements", like today's mathematics, physics, and chemistry, has always been the tool and method used by ancient Chinese sages to engage in various researches, regardless of Taoists, doctors, military strategists, Confucianists, historians, miscellaneous scholars, and calculators all must be proficient in the "Five Elements". Bagua is the continuation of yin and yang and the five elements, or it divides all things into Bagua. The eight trigrams are: Qian, Kan, Gen, Zhen, Xun, Li, Kun and Dui. Bagua is usually used in subjects such as orientation, hexagram measurement, and Feng Shui. The subject that best utilizes the Eight Diagrams is Plum Blossom Yishu.

Bagua is a set of symbolic symbols in ancient my country. Use to represent Yang and Yin, and use three such symbols to form eight forms, called Bagua.

The so-called five elements are metal, wood, water, fire and earth. The first thing to note when studying it is that if a fortune teller tells fortunes and regards walking as walking, it is absolutely wrong. When we read the "Book of Changes", we find the sentence "Heaven Xing Jian" in the Qian hexagram. This "Xing" means movement, which is "kinetic energy". The greatest mutual relationship between matter in the universe lies in this kinetic energy. There are five types of "kinetic energy", represented by metal, wood, water, fire, and earth. Like hexagrams, it is a traditional symbol, so don’t take it too seriously. The so-called "gold" is not gold, and "water" is not the same as the water in the cup. Don't think that the five elements are the five substances.

Each hexagram represents a certain thing. The symbols in the picture in order clockwise are: Kun (representing earth), Zhen (representing thunder), Li (representing fire), Dui (representing swamp), Qian (representing heaven), Xun (representing wind), Kan (representing water), Gen (representing mountains). The eight trigrams are combined with each other to form sixty-four hexagrams, which are used to symbolize various natural and human phenomena. If the top is the Kun hexagram and the bottom is the Kan hexagram, it is called "There is water on the ground, it is the Shi hexagram". If the top is the Kan hexagram and the bottom is the Kun hexagram, it is also called "There is water on the ground" but it is called the Bi hexagram.

Innate Bagua

The distribution of the Bagua directions differs from the innate to the innate. Let’s first talk about the Xiantian Bagua Diagram. Innate Bagua, Shao Yong calls it "Fuxi Bagua".

Use Qian to match (represent) the sky, Kun to the earth, Dui to the Ze, Li to the fire, Zhen to the thunder, Xun to the wind, Hom to the water, Gen to the mountain, turning from the left according to Yang, Yin to the The principle of turning from the right is that Heaven is supreme and Earth is humble, Heaven is above, in the south, and the four hexagrams composed of Yang Yao are on the left, arranged counterclockwise from Qian to Dui, Dui to Li, Li to Zhen; Kun is below, in The four hexagrams of Xun, Kan, Gen, and Kun generated by the northern Yin Yao are arranged clockwise from the right, from Qian to Xun, Xun to Kan, Kan to Gen, and Gen to Kun. From this, the innate Bagua chart is produced. Please pay attention to The yin and yang referred to here are determined based on the yin and yang of the lowest line of the eight trigrams. The lower lines of the four hexagrams Qian, Dui, Li, and Zhen are all yang lines (-), and the lower lines of the four hexagrams Xun, Kan, Gen, and Kun are all yang lines. Yin Yao (--). This is the method of Sanhe Feng Shui (also known as the auxiliary star water method) to determine the yin and yang of the Bagua and then further determine the yin and yang of the heavenly stems and earthly branches.

From this, the second group of Bagua numbers is generated, that is, the innate Bagua numbers (see the inner number): Qianjiu, Duisi, Lisan, Zhenba, Xuner, Kanqi, Genliu, Kun one. (The inner number is the innate Bagua number, and the outer number is the Bagua ordinal number). This set of numbers is used in Xuankong Taiyi Feng Shui.

Acquired Bagua

Acquired Bagua evolved from the Innate Bagua. The acquired Bagua chart is different from the innate Bagua chart. The acquired Bagua, Shao Yong called it "Wenwang Bagua", was actually not painted by King Wen of Zhou, the sage king of the Zhou Dynasty. This is the Bagua that belongs to acquired events. Qian is the father, Kun is the mother, Zhen is the eldest boy, Xun is the eldest daughter, Kan is the middle boy, Li is the middle girl, Gen is the young boy, and Dui is the young girl.

The third group of Bagua numbers is generated from this, which is the acquired Bagua numbers: Qianliu, Duiqi, Lijiu, Zhensan, Xunsi, Kanyi, Genba and Kuner.

The flying star judgment of Xuankong Feng Shui is to use the purple and white nine stars to add back to judge the bad luck, and the purple and white nine stars are derived from the acquired Bagua and Luo Shutu.

The ancients marked the direction exactly opposite to that of modern people. Modern people mark the directions as up north, down south, left west and right east, while the ancients marked the directions as down north up south, right west and left east. From the Nine Palaces Diagram of Luoshu, we can see the one-to-one correspondence between numbers, hexagrams, and directions:

One represents Kan Gua, located due north

The second represents Kun Gua, located in the west South

The third represents Zhen Gua, located in the east

The fourth represents Xun Gua, located in the southeast

The fifth represents Zhonggong

Six represents Qian Gua, located in the northwest

Seven represents Dui Gua, located in the west

Eight represents Gen Gua, located in the northeast

Nine represents Li Gua, located in the south
