Why is Ningxia so cold?
Climate overview and characteristics of Ningxia; Ningxia is located in the inland northwest of China, far away from the ocean, and is located on the western edge of the Chinese monsoon. In winter, it is controlled by the Mongolian high pressure, just as the cold air moves southward, and in summer and winter it is in the southeast The westward monsoon ends, forming a more typical continental climate (continental degree is 52 to 68), with four distinct seasons, no scorching heat in summer and no severe cold in winter. It has the advantages of long cold winters, short hot summers, quick warm springs, and early cool autumns; drought and little rain, abundant sunshine, strong evaporation, strong winds and sandy weather; cool in the south and warm in the north, wet in the south and dry in the north, and many meteorological disasters.
Ningxia is deeply inland, located in the northwest and east of my country, at the intersection of the Loess Plateau, Mongolian Plateau and Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, with very typical continental climate characteristics. In my country's climate zoning, the southern part of Guyuan City belongs to the mid-temperate semi-humid zone, the area north of Yuanzhou District to Yanchi and Tongxin belongs to the mid-temperate semi-arid zone, and the Yellow River Irrigation Area belongs to the mid-temperate arid zone. The basic climate characteristics of Ningxia are: drought with little rain, strong winds and sand, abundant sunshine, strong evaporation, long cold winters, quick warm springs, short hot summers, and early cool autumns. The annual and diurnal temperature ranges are large, and the frost-free periods are short and numerous. Disastrous weather such as drought, hail, strong winds, sandstorms, frost, local heavy rains and floods are more frequent. In the context of global warming, Ningxia's climate has also undergone significant changes in the past century. Before the 1930s, the annual average temperature in northern Ningxia fluctuated little. In the early 1930s, it entered a significant rising stage, reached the highest value in the mid-1940s, and then declined. From the mid-1950s to the mid-1960s, the temperature rebounded, and then entered a period of significant increase in the early 1980s. Significant rise stage. It is basically consistent with the overall temperature change trend in my country. 1. Temperature The annual average temperature in Ningxia ranges from 5.3 to 9.9°C, with a distribution of high in the north and low in the south (Figure 1). The temperature in Xingren, Mahuangshan and Guyuan City was below 7℃, and in other areas it was above 7℃. The temperatures in Zhongning and Dawukou were 9.5℃ and 9.9℃ respectively, which were the highest annual temperatures in the region. Ningxia has severe cold winters and hot summers. The highest temperature is in July, with an average of 16.9~24.7℃, and the lowest in January, with an average of -9.3~-6.5℃. The annual temperature range is large, reaching 25.2~31.2℃.
