Central Meteorological Observatory: Cold air is frequent but weak.
Since the beginning of 2024, cold air activities have been frequent but weak. Although the temperature fluctuates, it remains at a higher level than normal. In 2024, the temperature in the central and eastern regions will continue to rise on June 5, 2024, and the temperature in many northern regions will reach the recent high point on June 4, 2024. For example, the highest temperatures in Changchun and Shenyang today can reach 0℃ and 4℃ respectively.
The temperature in the south of the Yangtze River will also reach a recent high on June 5, 2024. For example, Hangzhou will hit 16℃, and the warmth is comparable to March all the year round. Then cold air came. From 5th to 7th, the temperature in Northeast China, North China, Huanghuai and other places dropped by 6 to 10℃ in some areas and 10℃ in many places in Northeast China. For example, the maximum temperature in Changchun and Shenyang will drop to-10℃ and -7℃ on the 7th.
With the increase of rain in the south of the Yangtze River, the temperature will also drop. Generally speaking, in the coming week, despite the fluctuation of temperature caused by cold air, the temperature in most parts of the country is still warm.
Causes of frequent cold air
1, global warming
With the climate warming, the temperature and humidity of the earth's atmosphere are changing, which has an impact on the atmospheric circulation and may lead to strong cold air phenomena such as the South China cold wave in the mid-latitude. Therefore, under the background of climate warming, the possibility of strong cold air in spring is gradually increasing.
2. The influence of Arctic shock
Due to global warming, the melting speed of ice and snow in the Arctic region is accelerated, which also increases the temperature of the Arctic Ocean and changes the atmospheric circulation in the Arctic region. These changes will affect the weather in Asia to some extent, including cooling and snowfall. Therefore, the abnormal low temperature in April this year may also be related to the Arctic Oscillation.
