What is a geomantic forest?

The Architecture Created by Man and Nature —— Fengshui Forest

Throughout the ages, poets have been describing and praising the beauty of nature's environment, which cannot be separated from green mountains, green waters and flowers. For example, "We watched the green trees around your village and the pale blue distant mountains" (Meng Haoran), "Led me through the bamboo and brushed my clothes" (Li Bai), "The willow trees are blooming in another village, and the green hills are light and sad" (Wei), "The green hills are full of water" (Du Mu) and so on. Some people combined the poems of four great writers in Tang and Song Dynasties, Wang Anshi, Bai Juyi, Lu You and Ouyang Xiu, into a beautiful "green" poem: "Green is there, the white sand embankment is green in the shade of Yang, the spring waves are green under the bridge of sorrow, and the grass in the long suburbs is endless."

As big as a city, a village, as small as a house and a cemetery, judging its geomantic omen is not an isolated local problem, but should be investigated from a wider scope. Picturesque scenery and lush everywhere are undoubtedly the embodiment of good feng shui. Building a house should pay attention to the beauty of the environment, and building a grave should also pay attention to the beauty of the environment. If the environment is not good, we should start designing and creating. From the perspective of scientific beauty, paying attention to "the mountains are blue and the trees are shaded" is the real good feng shui. Afforestation can not only prevent soil erosion and cold wind, but also bring people a comfortable mood. In the words of aestheticians, green plants "can arouse people's refreshing association with nature." Therefore, planting trees is the obligation and responsibility of human beings. From the perspective of geomantic omen, forests built according to certain needs are called "geomantic forests". Because Feng Shui advocates the environmental concept of "harmony between man and nature", this "Feng Shui Forest" is actually a special building jointly created by human beings and nature.

First, three common geomantic forests

According to its distribution characteristics, Fengshui forest can be divided into three types: windbreak forest, dragon chair forest and underlying forest. These three kinds of geomantic forests are actually a concrete manifestation of the greatest principle of good geomantic omen: windbreaks play the role of left and right sand circles, dragon stands as backers, and lower forests play the role of facing mountains (Geshan) in front.

1, windbreak forest

Windbreak forest is also called shelter forest. The mystery of nature is manifested in various aspects, and what the ancients called "Shaqi" is one of them. It is said that this kind of "suffocation" comes and goes without a trace, and it is impossible to prevent it. It can kill people unconsciously, and only Mr. Feng Shui can recognize it and subdue it. Now some people use modern science to explain it. "The so-called' Shaqi' is mostly cold north wind, including northwest wind and northeast wind. Because of its cold nature, it is easy to make people catch cold and get sick, or make their condition worse; However, there is a mysterious' suffocation', which is not a very cold airflow. Just because it is located in its tuyere, it is a very sensitive place for air flow changes. Hot and cold change quickly, and the wind is sometimes strong and sometimes weak. The wind is sandwiched with rain, which has corrosion and scouring power on cemeteries and walls. " The former theory equates "Shaqi" with cold wind, while the latter theory confuses "Shaqi" with cyclone and misses the point. If we must associate "Shaqi" with modern scientific concepts, then we can mechanically regard "Shaqi" as a kind of "magnetic line (magnetic field)" and "ray (ion or particle flow)" harmful to human body. Because trees can block or weaken these substances, forests can block evil spirits.

Windbreaks are generally planted at the mouth of pots. In mountain basins, there is a gap in the direction of the nozzle where rivers or streams flow out or in. If this gap is in the northwest, it is the door to the cold wind in winter. If there is no geomantic forest here, "Shaqi" will take advantage of it, which will inevitably lead to the escape of good geomantic omen, resulting in financial ruin or loss. Similarly, if the nozzle is in the southeast direction, the summer monsoon blows strongly from this passage, which brings rain (sometimes heavy rain) and causes disasters (landslides, floods, house collapses, injuries, etc.). ) time and time again, so it is necessary to plant feng shui forest in this Shuikou.

2. Long Forest

If windbreaks show their importance horizontally, then Longlin shows its power vertically. The house is built on the hillside, if there is no forest in the back hill. Nature is badly washed by heavy rain, and the wind around it is also very strong, which hinders the physical and mental health of the host family; In summer, the sun shines directly, and it is difficult to adjust the microclimate without the shelter of trees. Therefore, Mr. Feng Shui thinks that "Longlin" should be planted. Longlin is like a dragon chair with a backrest in the golden hall of the Forbidden City. The environment surrounded on three sides is natural and beautiful. Mr. Feng Shui has a good intention and a very attractive name. He compared his home to a "dragon", hoping that a son of heaven would be born, but this cast a mysterious veil over the original scientific things.

3. Underforest

Houses (or graves) built by rivers and lakes, although there is a "dragon forest" in the back hill, will lose their dignity and be top-heavy if there is no forest at the bottom. There is still the danger of landslide and collapse under the scouring of running water on the mountain. Mr. Feng Shui named it "Underlying Forest". Although the name is indecent, this part of planting trees is really important. However, the canopy should not be too high, so as not to block the line of sight. Just as it is impossible for an mountain to be higher than the main mountain behind it, too high a bottom forest will also hinder Feng Shui. It should be said that there are more than three kinds of geomantic Lin Yuan. If we expand the scope a little, the forest planted around the tomb should also be regarded as Feng Shui forest, as well as the wedding forest, zenith forest and bride forest.

Second, the cemetery feng shui forest

1, Kong Lin, the largest geomantic forest in the world.

Kong Lin, located two kilometers north of Qufu, Shandong Province, is the graveyard of Confucius and his family, and the longest family cemetery in the world. Kong Lin covers an area of 3,000 mu and is surrounded by a 7-kilometer-long wall. There are more than 20,000 ancient trees, such as cypress, juniper, oak, elm, locust, maple, kai and park, which are evergreen and intertwined. "The wood is ancient for thousands of years, and the forest is cold in May." Here, there is a vast forest, dripping flowers and green flowers, and there is a unique scenery. Confucius was a thinker, politician, educator and founder of Confucianism at the end of the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. The feudal rulers always regarded him as a saint. According to legend, there are 3,000 disciples, including more than 70 famous artists. Since the Han Dynasty, Confucius' theory has become the orthodoxy of feudal culture for more than two thousand years, which has a great influence. It is undeniable that this world-famous geomantic forest has added infinite glory to this cemetery.

2, Han Guiliu Fang-Zhuge Lin

Zhuge Liang Cemetery in Dingjun Mountain, southeast of Mianxian County, Shaanxi Province, covers an area of more than 400 mu and is also covered with dense Feng Shui forest. When there are many trees, it reaches 6.5438+million, and there are many rare and old trees. There is a osmanthus fragrans on the left and right sides of the tomb, which is called "protecting the tomb and protecting the double osmanthus". This is a rare osmanthus tree with seeds since the Shu and Han dynasties. The height of the tree is15 ~16m, and the crown width is more than 20m. It's like two giant umbrellas covering the sky. It blooms in August and smells everywhere. No wonder there is an inscription of "Han Gui Liu Fang" in front of the tomb.

Zhuge Liang was a statesman and strategist during the Shu and Han Dynasties in the Three Kingdoms. After Zhuge Liang's death, Liu Chan wrote a letter and planted 54 cypress trees in his cemetery, symbolizing Zhuge Liang's immortality at the age of 54. These ancient cypresses have been growing in Dingjun Mountain for 1700 years. Unfortunately, there are only 22 trees left, but the trunk is still tall and green, adding a solemn atmosphere to the cemetery. On the Mount of Huangdi Mausoleum in Huangdi County, Shanxi Province, there is still a cypress forest covering the sky. According to the statistics of 1963, there are more than 6 10000 coopers on the ridge of about 4 square kilometers. After liberation, after careful care and training, the actual number may be even greater.
