Where is Jiulong Spring located?
It is well known that Guangzhou people like to drink tea. Comrade Mao Zedong also once wrote a poem that "Drinking tea in Guangdong and Hainan will never be forgotten." It can be seen that the tea drinking custom of Guangzhou people is indeed unforgettable. There is a century-old teahouse in Guangzhou called Taotaoju. It used to run a tea market with a unique feature. Every day, it sent special personnel to Baiyun Mountain outside the city to pick up water from the Jiulong Spring to make tea. The brewed tea was fragrant and sweet, and was very popular among tea drinkers. As a result, the teahouse was full of guests and the business was booming.
Jiulong Spring is located at the foot of Mount Mosing Ridge in Baiyun Mountain in the north of Guangzhou. According to "Baiyun Yuexiu Ershan Hezhi", it is said that this place was originally the hermitage of An Qisheng in the Qin Dynasty. There was no spring. Later, nine boys appeared, and the spring gushed out in a moment. It was suspected that the children were transformed into dragons, so it was named Jiulong Spring. The waterfall under the spring is like a curtain of large and small beads, which is a famous scenic spot.
In the past, there were Jiulong Nunnery, Dragon King Shrine, etc. nearby, and Guangzhou residents would go here to pray for rain.
Nowadays, a granite well platform has been added to Jiulong Spring. The diameter of the wellhead is about 1.1 meters, and it is surrounded by guardrails with coiled dragon pillars. There is a granite monument with the characters "Jiulongquan" in running script on the front. Jiulong Spring has a large amount of water, which is clear and sweet, making tea more fragrant and delicious.
A teahouse has been built next to the spring for visitors to enjoy tea and meals. The Shahe noodles made with Jiulongquan are particularly smooth and delicious.
