Introduction to wumen
Wumen is the main entrance of the Forbidden City, located on the north-south axis of the Forbidden City, with a total height of 37.95 meters. It was built in the 18th year of Yongle in Ming Dynasty (1420), rebuilt in the 4th year of Shunzhi in Qing Dynasty (1647) and rebuilt in the 6th year of Jiaqing in Qing Dynasty (180 1). The meridian gate is located in the center of the sun, on the meridian, hence the name. In front of it are Duanmen, Tiananmen Square (the main entrance of the imperial city) and Daqing Gate, and behind it is Taihe Gate.
