Heavy snowfall in Yu County in recent years
The Hebei Provincial Meteorological Observatory issued the first blizzard red warning signal this autumn on the 4th. Yu County, the "Hometown of Paper-cutting in China", even received the heaviest snowfall in 58 years, with a snowfall amount of 44.7 millimeters and a snow depth of 40 centimeters.
According to Kong Fanchao, a meteorological engineer at the Hebei Meteorological Observatory, precipitation has occurred in most areas of Hebei since the night of the 2nd. As of 8:00 on the 4th, the average precipitation in the province was 21 mm. Precipitation of more than 25 mm is mainly concentrated in southern Zhangjiakou, western and southern Chengde, Qinhuangdao, Tangshan, central and eastern Baoding, Langfang, and northwest Cangzhou. Among them, 15 counties (cities) have rainfall in southern Chengde, central Qinhuangdao, most of Tangshan, and northern Langfang. The amount is above 50 mm, and Xianghe is 67.3 mm. According to the monitoring of the encrypted rainfall station, the rainfall in Shuangwang and Yinzhuang in Lulong County was 109.1 mm and 112.8 mm respectively.
Heavy rain hit Caofeidian District, Tangshan City at 17:00 on the 3rd. After washing all night, it stopped at about 6:00 in the morning on the 4th. According to Kong Fanchao, heavy rains have already occurred in most areas in eastern Chengde, Tangshan, Qinhuangdao and northern Langfang. It is expected that there will still be moderate to heavy rain (20 to 40 mm) in the above-mentioned areas during the day on the 4th.
The precipitation phase in Zhangjiakou, northern and western Chengde, northwest and eastern Baoding, western Langfang, eastern Shijiazhuang, western Cangzhou, and most of Hengshui has successively turned to snow. Among them, Yu County has the largest snowfall. Zhao Bin, deputy director of the county's Meteorological Bureau, said that the snowfall in the county reached 44.7 millimeters and the snow depth was 40 centimeters. This is the largest snowfall in the county since the station was established in 1954. He said that since the establishment of the station, the largest snowfall in Yu County occurred in March 2007, with the snowfall reaching 20 mm.
On the morning of the 4th, the Hebei Provincial Meteorological Observatory issued an emergency red warning signal for heavy snowfall and three red warning signals for road icing. Early warning signals show that heavy snowfall has already occurred in most areas of Zhangjiakou, western and northern Chengde, and northwest Baoding. It is expected that there will still be moderate to heavy snowfall and local heavy snowfall in the above-mentioned areas from day to night on the 4th.
As the rain and snow come, cold winds and cooling temperatures also sweep across most of Hebei without mercy. According to the blue gale warning signal issued by the Hebei Provincial Meteorological Observatory at 10:00 on the 4th, from the afternoon to the night of the 4th, there will be northwest winds of magnitude 5 to 6 and gusts of magnitude 7 to 8 in most areas of the province.
At the same time, the temperature will continue to drop in various parts of Hebei tomorrow and the next two days. The temperature dropped by 7 to 9°C in the northeastern region and by 2 to 4°C in other areas. On the morning of the 6th, the lowest temperature in the northern region reached -6 to -2°C, with the lowest temperature in the Bashang area reaching -14 to -12°C, and the lowest temperature in other areas reaching -2 to 2°C.
