(2) Gaoping Bozhou Yang Tombs
Bozhou Yang Tombs are located in Pearl Mountain, Gaoping Town, in the north of Huichuan District, 14km away from Zunyi City, and the Sichuan-Guizhou Highway passes through the town. And passed. Gaoping Dam is an open mountain basin with abundant sunshine, abundant water resources, and fertile farmland that crops twice a year. As early as the Song Dynasty, it was turned into an official farm by the local officials of the Yang family of Bozhou, and yamen and temples were built here. And the tombs of local officials and chieftains of past dynasties were built on Pearl Mountain with deep soil.
Old records record: "The ancestral tomb of the Yang family in the Ming Dynasty is located behind the Guangfu Temple in Beigaoping, Zunyi County. It is said that it was the place where Yang family detained criminals. It is actually the ancestral tomb of the Yang family." Pearl Mountain is not very high. , the gently sloping ridge stretches in the shape of a "human", looking like a huge pyramid from a distance. The tombs of the Yang family in Bozhou are located on the two mountain ridges of Diguabao and Yamen at the northern foot of the mountain. The location of the cemetery is very particular. Going north from here, you can reach Banqiao Yong'an Village and Loushanguan; turning west, go to Yangmacheng and Hailongtun; and 15 kilometers south, you can reach Yang's Xuanwei Sicheng (now Zunyi City Huizhou). Sichuan District), Gaoping is suitable for living in the middle. There are mountains and forests behind the cemetery and Pingchuan in front, with a wide view. The Fengxiangtang River at the northern source of the Xiangjiang River flows through the fields in front of the tomb, shining with silver light.
In the spring of 1972, the archaeological team of the Guizhou Provincial Museum excavated these ancient tombs. From the unearthed written materials such as broken tablets, epitaphs, memorial inscriptions, tomb repair inscriptions, etc., it was confirmed that the four tombs were The tombs of the 15th Yang Wen, the 21st Yang Sheng, the 22nd Yang Gang, the 24th Yang Ai and their wives, concubines and children are the local officials of the Yang family in Bozhou. Among these ancient tombs, Yang Wen's tomb was built in the late Southern Song Dynasty, and the materials were all made of huge sandstone. The remaining three are tombs from the fifth year of Zhengtong (1440 AD) to the thirteenth year of Zhengde (1517 AD) of the Ming Dynasty. Several tombs are large-scale couples' tombs. Each burial mound contains at least two tomb chambers, and as many as four chambers side by side. The stone chambers are covered with earth, and there is a wide worship platform in front of them. The atmosphere is extraordinary. The huge bluestone slabs used to build the tomb are flat and polished, and are fastened together with mortise and tenon joints to form the tomb chamber. The structure is quite solid. The stone slabs used to build tombs can weigh up to 1,000 kilograms, and can weigh as much as 8 tons. On the tomb door, tomb wall, tomb top and other parts, the round sun, cirrus cloud pattern, bonsai flowers, ball pattern and geometric patterns are respectively carved. Carving such complex patterns on the hard and brittle bluestone is called "on the stone". Embroidery", showing exquisite carving skills with every ax and chisel.
In today’s northern Guizhou and southern Sichuan areas, the burial custom of building sarcophagus and coffin tombs with large stone slabs is very old. The ancients had a custom of lavish burials. Stones were produced in mountainous areas and huge stones were used to build tombs, which would not decay for thousands of years. The Gelao and Miao people believe that snakes, ants, and pangolins will not destroy the bodies of their relatives when building stone tombs, and this has become a custom. The origin of stone coffin tombs can be traced back to the ancient legends of the southwest people. "Huayang Guozhi. Shu Zhi" written by Chang Xu in the Jin Dynasty said: "There was a Shu lord named Silkworm Cong, whose eyes were vertical, and he first became king. When he died, he made a stone coffin and a stone coffin. Therefore, the people of the country customarily used the stone coffin and coffin as a tomb for people with vertical eyes." "Cancong, according to legend, is the ancestor of the Shu king, who taught people sericulture. Zunyi is the old soil of Shu, so "Zunyi Mansion Chronicles" says: "The custom of the county is to use stone coffins in particular. It is an ancient custom passed down from generation to generation, and it cannot be banned by common rites. There were builders of the previous generation who hoeed and cultivated the slopes of the plateau and washed them with rain for ten years. There are nine exposed coffins, no mountain without them, and there are as many as dozens of coffins." These stone coffins are commonly known as "Ming Tombs", "Miao Can Tombs" and "Zhuan Zhuang Tombs", and they are the tombs of ethnic minorities left in ancient Bozhou. . The Yang family tombs in Gaoping are huge stone chamber tombs in the Shu style, with strong local and ethnic characteristics. Because of their large scale, exquisite carvings and majestic momentum, these tombs of native officials are known among the people as "official tombs" and "imperial tombs". They are the largest group of stone chamber tombs in Guizhou.
These four tombs were robbed in the early years, and very few burial objects survived. During the cleanup, only more than 10 pottery figurines on horseback were found, one copper lock, one copper chopstick, one gold flower piece each, and the remains of the "Yangwen Shinto Stele" There is one stone on each side, and the epitaph of Yang Sheng's wife, Mrs. Tian of Hongnong County, is on one side. These precious historical materials are of great value to the study of China's Tusi system and the ancient history of southwest China and Bozhou. The Provincial People's Government has listed these ancient tombs as key cultural relics protection units.
