Altitude sickness occurs when going to Tibet? So why are they not afraid of so many self-driving trips?

1. Due to the differences in physical fitness of each person, some people will have altitude sickness, while some people will have no or very mild altitude sickness.

2. Generally, many tourists who drive to Tibet may have gradually adapted to the plateau environment on the way, and will no longer suffer from altitude sickness after arriving in Lhasa, Tibet (the altitude of Lhasa City is 3,650 meters).

Note: I have often traveled to plateaus by car in the past three years, and I like to go to places above 3,000 meters above sea level, or even above 4,000 meters above sea level. For example, during the National Day in 2017, when my husband and I traveled to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau by car, we stayed at an altitude of 4,200 to 4,300 meters for three consecutive days.

On April 28, 2018, I drove over the Balang Mountain pass in the evening (the altitude of the pass road is 4523 meters), and camped at the top of the Panda Monument (4050 meters above sea level) at night,

< p>On May 13, 2018, my husband and I were traveling by car to Hongyuan County. In the morning, they impromptuly climbed the Snow Mountain (the birthplace of Baihe River to an altitude of 4,500 to 4,600 meters). In the afternoon, we drove 430 kilometers home (including 80 kilometers of highways, and the rest are mostly mountainous roads).
