What lessons can I learn from Li Ka-shing’s first life lesson?
Li Ka-shing’s “Life’s First Lesson”
Li Ka-shing is the idol of hundreds of millions of people. So, who is Li Ka-shing’s idol?
His answer is: his father Li Yunjing.
Li Ka-shing said: "My father is a very typical Chinese, with integrity, loyalty, and sincerity."
In 1943, Li Yunjing died due to long-term fatigue, poverty, worry and anger. Finally fell ill. Li Yunjing suffered from lung disease. Lung disease was an "incurable disease" at the time, and contracting the disease was tantamount to a death sentence. He had a premonition that he would die soon and pinned all his hopes on his son. In order to maintain his son's tuition, he insisted not to be hospitalized; even if the doctor prescribed medicine, he would not go to the pharmacy to buy medicine. After Li Ka-shing's uncle Zhuang Jing'an learned about this situation, he "forcibly" sent him to hospital. After being admitted to the hospital, Li Yunjing still secretly saved money for medicine to pay for his only son's tuition. Li Ka-shing sheds tears every time he recalls this past event.
After his father died of illness, Xiao Jiacheng and his mother borrowed money here and there, and finally scraped together enough money to buy a burial place for his father.
According to the rules at the time, people who bought a cemetery had to pay before they could see the land. It was two Hakka brothers who sold the land to the Li family. They boasted to Xiao Jiacheng, saying how good this Feng Shui treasure land was, and that if their ancestors were buried here, their descendants would surely be prosperous.
Xiao Jiacheng hopes to be prosperous, but does not believe that he can buy a Feng Shui treasure land with such a small amount of money. He thought that as long as his father had a resting place, he and his mother would be at ease. After giving the money to the land seller, he followed them to look at the land. On this day, the cold current happened to move south, the temperature dropped sharply, coupled with the continuous rain, the mountain road was muddy, and Xiao Jiacheng, who was wearing thin clothes, shivered with the cold. Two Hakka people saw that he was a child and deliberately deceived him. They walked very fast, trying to get away from Li Ka-shing. But Xiao Jiacheng never left, following them closely.
When we walked to a deserted grave on a mountain col, the younger brother walking in front said to his older brother in Hakka: "Brother, this is the place!"
Known as "Ah "Brother" the man said: "Here? Didn't you see that there is a grave here?" "It doesn't matter, just dig it up and take away the bones. It's just a child, I don't dare not accept it." p>
Their conversation was overheard by Li Ka-shing, who knew a little bit of Hakka. Xiao Jiacheng thought, there are such black-hearted people in the world, who would not let go of a dead person for such a small amount of money. He thought of his father's upright life and his father would never do anything like occupying a magpie's nest. Even if he was buried here, under the Nine Springs, he would not rest in peace.
Xiao Jiacheng analyzed that these two people were so evil-minded that it was absolutely impossible to return the money. If they entangled with them, it was possible that they would kill them.
So, when the two brothers were digging a grave with a hoe, Li Ka-shing said: "Stop digging, I heard everything you said. Forget it, the money is just a donation from me to you!" I'll find another seller." After saying that, he ran down the mountain without looking back.
The setbacks of buying land to bury his father taught Li Ka-shing his first lesson in life. He warned himself that no matter how difficult life will be in the future, he must not harm others. With this life creed, Li Ka-shing finally became the richest man in Asia. (? World Manager)
