Introduction of Jiuxiang Scenic Area

Jiuxiang Scenic Area is located in the mountainous area, with cool climate, overlapping peaks and valleys. The relative height difference between peak and valley is about 200 meters, and the surface elevation is between 1, 750 ~ 1, 900 meters, with little fluctuation. It shows the young river landscape with rising terrain and river undercutting erosion in the karst cave distribution area. Nine townships are densely forested, with a coverage rate of 62.3%, and are rich in precious animal and plant resources. The ancient human settlement site in Zhangkoudong represents the unique Paleolithic culture in southern China, and is called "Nine Towns and One Must". Jiuxiang Scenic Area is a member of the International Cave Association and a national key scenic spot. It is a new comprehensive scenic spot with karst cave landscape as the main body, and natural scenery, human landscape and ethnic customs outside the cave are integrated.

Regarding the formation of Jiuxiang, according to the investigation of cave scientists at home and abroad, Jiuxiang cave group developed in shallow sea sediments and gray-white siliceous dolomite of Dengying Formation of Sinian system 600 million years ago. Experts believe that this is a karst cave system with fault instability, dissolution and erosion.
