Miaode's road to travelers
-Interview Walker
Reporter/Chen Qingzhi
The scene before us is nothing more than a heart.
Travelers are the most legendary, literate and profound travelers that journalists know.
He sings barefoot at the edge of Blue Moon Valley, and he is lonely in the bustling city of Zaixi. Telling my own experience in the forum of the university, recalling my life on a lonely night, left a figure dressed in Hanfu and holding shakuhachi for the surging crowd, just like a glimpse. From the age of sixteen to the present, he has traveled to dozens of places every year, and his footprints have been found in China, Southeast Asia and other places. His footsteps have also aroused many people's curiosity and follow. However, it is such a person who settled down during the trip and experienced countless adventures. When asked by a reporter "where is the most unforgettable scenery", he only mentioned Shangri-La, Fuzheng Caotang in Shuhe, Xinjiang, Baihaba, and Xianyan Mountain in Wenzhou, and he didn't want to say any more.
Walker once lived in a deep mountain in Guangxi. In order to avoid the harassment of snakes and centipedes, he sleeps in a tree at night. After walking out of the mountain, he strayed into a swamp again. He couldn't get in with a stick in his hand, but when he walked up, he soon sank. Later, it was getting dark in the mountains, and his eyesight became worse and worse. He had to stop and stand in the same place all night. There are bugs crawling on me in the middle of the night, and I dare not move until dawn.
The traveler said that such an adventure is more memorable than other places, and it is only related to the people he met during the trip and the suddenly enlightened mentality. And his greatest gain in this decade is nothing more than continuous learning and extensive knowledge. For example, I met Mr. Pei Jinbao of Wumen Qinshe in Suzhou, Mr. Matsumoto, the master of shakuhachi in Hangzhou, and met with Shi Lianzi many times in Beijing, Fujian, Yunnan and other places, and re-recognized the essence of China culture. Once he visited an old man on the border of four Central Asian countries in Xinjiang. The old man knows a musical instrument, that is, Hu Jia in the legendary eighteen beats. On another trip to Putuo, three colleagues ran out of cash and couldn't find a bank, so friends advised him to play shakuhachi and beg. At first, he refused to play for others. The next day, one of his friends told him: you play your own, others hear it is someone else's. He just sat on the stone bridge in front of Fayu Temple and played on the plaque of "Tianhua Fayu Temple" inscribed by Master Hongyi. Later, two passing girls listened to him and gave him 100 yuan. A friend also drew a picture as a gift. This experience also taught him to let go of himself.
Nothing is more beautiful than the heart.
Dialogue walker
G (Global Travel News Special Issue of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao):/kloc-What is the opportunity and motivation for you to bravely choose a travel life at the age of 0/6? What was the original plan?
X (Walker): Maybe it's fate. When I was young, I was rather withdrawn, because I went to school at the age of three, and few students older than me wanted to play with me. When teenagers are studying, they feel that they need to find a job after graduation, get married and have children after work, and the children will continue like this again and again when they grow up. So what is the meaning of life? What does human life exist for? So on 16 birthday, I chose to find the value I wanted and decided on seven southern cities. I decided with the last sentence of a song that one of them, Guangzhou, set off in a hurry. Seven southern cities were chosen at that time, mainly because you can sleep everywhere in the wandering, and the weather in the south is warm and won't freeze to death.
G: g:/kloc-did the purpose of 0/6 years old and the significance of thinking at that time change later?
X: Yes, but in the final analysis, it is the same. At the beginning of 2005, I traveled all over China except Taiwan Province Province, Tibet and Inner Mongolia, which was my first ideal in life. Although I suffered a lot, I also felt a sense of nothingness in the vast land. But on the whole, I walk to find the value of life, and I regard life as the most thorough walk.
G: What unforgettable difficulties did you encounter during this period, and how did you overcome them?
Xu: Actually, the sufferings I experienced were very easy in many cases, but they often made me unable to solve them at that time, such as hunger. The first place I wandered was Guangzhou, from Guangzhou to Dongguan and Shenzhen. During this time, I was hungry and weak in the street several times. I even drank water from other people's orchards to water vegetable fields, ate unripe bananas and auspicious oranges, and volunteered to work as a bricklayer at the construction site. Then I escaped from the construction site and worked as an electronics worker and a car washer. Many times, they choose to survive first in order to avoid hunger and retreat. Another example is loneliness. In the many twists and turns of body and mind, I often feel that I am in the vast world, alone, with nowhere to go, and I don't know where I will be tomorrow. The above is the general impression I can remember at present.
What makes my memory more specific and profound is actually the lives of different people in this society I saw in Guangdong at that time. Some of them were extremely arrogant and some were extremely miserable. So later, I wrote in a poem: the mountains and rivers of heaven and earth heal my wounds and give me sound and wind to be with me. This kind of scar is not only my own, but also other people I have met. I want to help myself and others through my own efforts, so as to realize my life value.
G: In the process of walking, what opportunity brought you into contact with the traditional culture of China?
Xu: Because I have experienced hunger personally, I know that a good life is hard to come by. Because I have experienced loneliness personally, I know the way to eliminate loneliness, and that is sincerity and friendliness between people. I have personally experienced the most vulnerable groups, such as starving like a street beggar, being a construction worker who moves bricks all day long, and applying for an electronic worker with a competitive monthly salary of 300 yuan. I also realized the pain of life from myself and others. Therefore, I am determined to solve these pains and have a truly firm and eternal happiness.
In 2005, when I felt that walking and traveling without a purpose was nothing, I returned to Guangzhou, the first stop of my wandering. Later, I moved from Guangzhou to Beijing, continued to study sociology and philosophy by myself, and realized my new ideal. In 2006, sociology and philosophy not only failed to really solve my problems, but also failed to help me solve the social problems I wanted to devote myself to. So I gradually realized Buddhism and China traditional culture. Because, compared with philosophical terminology and sociological analysis, living in China, this kind of Chinese civilization with mutual affinity makes me feel that it is naturally generated and can be integrated into China people.
G: From philosophy to China traditional culture, what was the first book that influenced and attracted you? Is there anything that impressed you?
Xu: Probably a Brief History of Buddhism written by Liang Qichao, which contains an excerpt: "When the season comes, if you forget it, you won't get it from him." When I repeatedly analyzed western philosophical terms, it was like a puzzling stick, which knocked me down and made me suddenly realize. Since then, I have really turned from philosophy and sociology to China traditional culture, especially in the study and recitation of classics and history.
G: In modern society, your age is obviously in sharp contrast with those abstruse ancient classics you read. Has anyone ever questioned you?
Xu: Actually, classics and history are not difficult, if you can read them. In my opinion, people who have really made achievements in the value of life, from heads of state to ordinary people, have studied history. Few people around me question me. Because there are only people around me who are worried about me, they can't understand my future from the perspective of life.
G: Do you envy those pedestrians?
Xu: My favorite walkers are Master Xuanzang in the Tang Dynasty, thich nhat hanh and Xu Xiake in the Ming Dynasty. Italian traveler Kyle Poirot and British travel writer Mao Mu, as well as Gao Henian in the Republic of China.
G: Why do you wear Hanfu to play shakuhachi? What do you think the promotion of China's traditional culture can bring?
Xu: Learning from China's traditional culture, what can be advocated most is the character and values transmitted in the culture, which is the ultimate goal of any civilization. The most important Confucian culture in China is benevolence and courtesy. Benevolent people love themselves, eliminate selfish desires and help themselves. Ceremony, according to the ceremony, everyone is willing to keep themselves and strive for self-improvement. If the country is not cured, it will be safe.
Hanfu is only because of personal preference, because it contains the representation of clothes and gifts, which not only produces the name of China, but also is the traditional clothing of the Han nationality in China for thousands of years. I am very happy that I am from China, so naturally I always wear Hanfu. On the other hand, in the process of traveling all over the country, I occasionally feel lonely, and I hope to take this opportunity to express my respect. Especially under some waterfalls, snow-capped mountains, lakes and the sea, it will be very happy to play shakuhachi.
G: Can you still walk? Or return to cultural studies or other cultural activities? Like building an academy.
Xu: Walking is a process over and over again. The best way in life is not to travel around the world, but to improve yourself. In recent years, my walks are almost all related to study tours, not aimlessly watching the scenery. Now my friends and I have just established a college in Beijing called Mingxin College. Some time ago, I also initiated a meeting for practitioners to read scriptures, with the aim of promoting and practicing good laws. Everyone is a practitioner in his own life.
We hope to start with advocating Chinese-style life, and then return to the character of China traditional culture, so as to convey beautiful spiritual values. Because if you want, you can be a walker all your life. Apart from working harder, I am no different in talent.
Interview with Southern Metropolis Daily SD08 Edition
Walker-the meaning of walking and traveling for growth.
Written by Southern Reporter Liang Bo Abstract:
When I first came into contact with Walker, like most people, I thought he was great-a man who started traveling alone at the age of sixteen, a traveler who wore Hanfu all the year round, and a young man who played shakuhachi. ...
After getting to know him a few times more, I helped him "deify" in my heart. Walker is as ordinary as you and me. He just insists on doing his favorite thing from the bottom of his heart, which is difficult, but his experience tells us that this is the only process of growth, and he has done it.
16 years old, bought a train ticket and set off.
This is also a bit amazing, because under some circumstances, Walker went to school at the age of 3, and he had a different childhood experience from his peers. Naturally, because he is too "precocious", children of the same age don't play with him, and there is no topic. Not long after graduating from junior high school, another opportunity made him know a university professor and listened to classes with him for some time.
16 birthday, he made a decision for himself, bought a train ticket and set off.
His goal was not clear at that time. He just saw that his life trajectory in the next few decades seemed to have been laid, and he felt afraid and unwilling. This is not the life he wants, he tries to fight it. Or, he wants to look at other possibilities while he is young.
So, with an ignorant direction, he went to a road of growth paved by himself. "At that time, I planned to visit seven cities in the south, so I went to Guangzhou first ..."
Yes, it is not easy to "see the world" at this age. Travelers have experienced the same situation as those who go to work in the south-they have worked in factories and construction sites, and they have suffered from starvation without money. These words, which are now understated, appear in a person's life and only the parties themselves know.
Talk about the word "wandering" in front of a three-year-old child.
I used to think that my walking was called "wandering". One year when I was working in a factory in Humen, I met two children selling flowers after work at night. One is over five years old and the other is only over three years old. He bought a flower and a bottle of coke for the children. The children talked to him about their situation while drinking coke: if their flowers were not sold out, "uncle" would fight.
"What should I do if I hit you?"
"We're going back to our hometown in Jiangxi ... where we used to go ..."
Walker said that he was deeply shocked at that time and never wrote anything about vagrancy again. In the face of these two children, we still talk nonsense about "wandering". Because of the environment of the world, they were forced to wander at such a young age. They are real vagrants. And those who often talk about the word "wandering" in public, most of them still inevitably carry the false goodwill of some urbanites!
Young people leave home, old people will come back, and children will never meet.
That winter, after nearly five years away from home, the monkey decided to go home. Carrying a bag, walking on the way home, a car has been slowly following him, which inevitably makes people nervous. Later, the car finally caught up with him. A man jumped out of the car and blocked his way. Then it took a long time to say, Who are you?
It turns out that the driver is Walker's friend who grew up together. He was so surprised by Walker's appearance that he hardly dared to recognize him.
When passing by the village entrance, many old people and children looked at him with strange eyes. This can't help but remind him of the song "Young people leave home, old people return, local accent hasn't changed, children don't know each other, laughing and asking where the guests come from." When he got home in the evening, all his former classmates and friends came to see him. A friend had a child, and a 3-year-old girl sang a Henan opera for him ... The pictures of people and things around him only made him feel like a lifetime ago. But it also made him more clear about his ideas. The real meaning of his "running away" is to be a truly valuable person, who can help others as well as himself.
After walking for several years, the walker slowed down and found what he really wanted to do. Now, he and his friend * * * have established Mingxin Academy in Beijing, hoping that through their common interest in traditional culture, more people will be integrated into the "character" construction of culture and human existence.
Adventure, meet a stranger in the forest
The walker's walking career is not like traditional travel at all, but closer to an experience. Once, in a deep mountain in Guangxi, he walked for nearly a month before coming out. The two sulfur bags he carries with him are his loyal guards. At night, he put a sulfur bag on the next bed and he slept in the tree; One day I walked into a forest farm and met a 30-year-old ranger. During the Cultural Revolution, he was taken to the mountain by his father and has lived there ever since. This man looks strange because he doesn't deal with the outside world all the year round. Monkey borrowed it from him, ate with him and lived in a hut on the hillside. Although the man doesn't talk much, he is good at planting flowers and putting all the flowers away to make a fragrant dew.
Walker said that the man had several perfume bottles. It is said that a Hong Kong woman once traveled here, gave her perfume to him, and then took away his perfume.
Misenter the swamp
After leaving the forest farm, he strayed into a swamp. That's a ravine. The stick in your hand can't get stuck in the mud, but people will sink in if they go up. Later, he found a board and spread it on the swamp, moving forward little by little. By 4 o'clock in the afternoon, the sky in the mountains was getting darker and darker, and his eyesight was getting worse and worse. He had to stop and stand still, so he stood all night. Insects and centipedes climbed up in the middle of the night and dared not move until dawn.
In his years of solo travel, there are countless such adventures.
have a conversation
The meaning of travel has changed several times.
Tourism Age: Have you ever doubted the significance of walking or "wandering"?
Monkey: Well, I've thought about it anyway, but I always feel that I can't go back to school or home anyway, so I'll keep walking and have a look.
Tourism Age: What made you change and find your goal?
Walker: One year, I was on a mountain in Anxi, Fujian. I was reading some books about philosophy before16th century. There is a saying in the Jue Yuan Classic: "When the season comes, it's like forgetting, forgetting and remembering. Only then can you wake up, and you can get nothing from him ..." This sentence made me awake, and then I analyzed those things in my mind and suddenly saw something completely new.
Travel Times: What made you decide to wear Hanfu after traveling for many years? Does this dress have an effect on your daily life?
Tourist: I have been wearing Hanfu for more than three years. At the beginning, I lived in an ancient village and studied classics, history and ancient poems. People in ancient villages and towns wear national costumes, so I wear Hanfu. Besides, it's very comfortable to wear Hanfu during meditation. Later, it was found that Hanfu was cut flat, which was more in line with the characteristics of China people's round shoulders and flat back, and it could also protect the neck and waist from the cold, so it was always worn. I have been wearing Hanfu and sandals for a long time, and I feel that this dress actually has the agreement of the ancients on the ceremony: the dress under the coat also contains the meaning of the name of China. It is also in line with my ambition to promote Hanfu as a kind of "clothes and gifts".
Inherit the cultural "character" and find someone who can sing.
Travel Times: Tell me about your college. ...
Traveler: Through culture, not only knowledge is conveyed, but also a character is conveyed. What is civilization? Civilization is the characteristic that distinguishes us from animals, which makes us have good character. It is more meaningful to transmit culture and restore humanity. In fact, Mingxin College is now divided into several levels of work. One is to invite some teachers to tell you the essence of the four books and five classics, historical records and China classical culture; Secondly, we will have a reading club to introduce some classic works and read some really good books together.
Tourism era: how do you distinguish what you do from what is popular in society, such as learning ancient culture or other types of practice?
Tourist: I also have a general understanding of various courses that are popular in society now. They made the course into a product, which is completely different from our core idea of being a college. I am more natural, just like some people like to drink coke, which is his freedom; And when he took a sip of tea one day and felt good, he just yelled at you. What we have to do is to find some like-minded people, and we can communicate with each other when there is scolding.
