What does the house porch mean?
the porch, also known as the entrance hall, refers to a turning space between the entrance and the main hall of a building. The traditional architecture in East Asia has the concept of "hiding", and the porch is a buffer between the outside and the inside of the house, which separates the outside from the inside to a certain extent.
Originally, porch is a term used in China Taoism (the inner alchemy method, where the qi in the body passes first when it travels around the whole body) and Zen (when Dharma introduced Zen to China, it instructed to translate dhyāna into metaphysics, and then translated it into Zen), and the source is "The person who is in the porch of the husband is also the most mysterious organ." (Xuanzang's Gate) Later, the word "porch" was used to refer to the space at the entrance of the building.
In East Asia, Southeast Asia and other vast areas, there are also many cultures that have the habit of taking off their shoes at the entrance. In some suburban houses in the southern United States, there is also a space called MudRoom for taking off coats and shoes.
