Where is the old site of Yan'an Luyi?
The former site of Yan'an Luyi is a national key cultural relic protection unit and a classic red tourism scenic spot.
The Lu Xun Academy of Arts was later renamed Lu Xun Academy of Arts and Letters, abbreviated as: Lu Yi. It is located in a place called Qiaoergou about 5 kilometers east of today's Yan'an City. The college site was built using a church in Qiaogou and the cave dwellings surrounding the church. The church hall was used as a classroom for classes, and the cave dwellings were used as school buildings. It is said that the church in Qiaogou was built with funds raised by a Spanish missionary named: Fr. When "Lu Yi" was first established, it was not located in Qiaogou, but in the Beibei City (today's military division area) to the north of Yan'an City. In February 1938, initiated by Mao Zedong and with the full support of Zhou Enlai and others, a school aimed at cultivating cultural and artistic cadres for the Communist Party was named after Mr. Lu Xun: Lu Xun Art Institute.
The founding and opening ceremony was held in the auditorium on April 10, 1938. Mao Zedong appointed himself as the dean. In April of the same year, after graduating from the Yan'an Central Party School, he came to "Lu Yi" as a drama teacher. "Luyi" initially had three departments: drama, music, and fine arts. In August, the Department of Literature was added, and later a research laboratory, a drama troupe, etc. were established. In August 1939, "Lu Yi" moved from the military fortress of Beibei City to the remote and quiet Qiaergou, and opened a school using the church and the facilities surrounding the church. From then on, the sound of reading and cheerful laughter came from this Catholic church.
After "Lu Yi" moved to Qiaogou, Mao Zedong no longer served as the nominal principal. The then dean Kang Sheng, deputy deans Zhao Yimin and Shakov also had other jobs because the famous educator Wu Yuzhang Back to Yan'an. Wu Yuzhang returned to Yan'an in early November and took office as the dean of "Luyi" on November 18, with Zhou Yang as the vice president. Luyi is the first college opened by the Communist Party of China in Yan'an to train various high-level and intermediate cultural and artistic talents. Lu Yi has successively arranged and staged operas such as "The White-Haired Girl", Yang operas such as "Brothers and Sisters Clearing the Wasteland", and musical works such as "Yellow River Cantata". He has also published literary and artistic publications such as "Literary Front" and "Leaves of Grass", and organized many Exhibitions of influential art works.
Luyi is one of the bases and cradle of literature and art in New China. According to statistics, from March 1938 to November 1945, 685 students graduated from Luyi University, including 197 from the literature department, 179 from the drama department, 162 from the music department, and 147 from the art department. The world-famous writers and artists such as Zheng Lucheng, Liu Chi, Mo Ye, Wang Kun, Cheng Yin, Luo Gongliu, Zhong Li, Li Bo, He Jingzhi, Shi Le, Yu Lan, Qin Zhaoyang, Huang Gang, Kang Zhuo, etc. are all Lu students of art.
In March 1943, Lu Yi was ordered to merge with Yan'an University and become the School of Literature and Art of Yan'an University. Zhou Yang, vice president of Yanda, also serves as dean of the School of Literature and Art.
Since August 1945, teachers and students of Lu Yi were ordered to leave Yan'an one after another and go to North China and Northeast China. In November, Zhou Yang led Lu Yi to leave Yan'an and arrived in Zhangjiakou, Hebei. In May 1946, it was renamed the Luyi Art Troupe in Northeast China, with four Luyi Art Troupes in Mudanjiang, Hejiang, Songjiang and Tonghua. In September of the same year, some teachers and students from Lu Yi came to Jiamusi, Heilongjiang to establish the School of Literature and Art of Northeastern University, with Xiao Jun as the dean.
