The origin of the name of Yaomao Village in Qiangtou

There are three theories about the origin of the name of Yaomao Village. In the 48th year of Emperor Qianlong's reign in the Qing Dynasty, the Fugu County Chronicle records that Fengjiahui was four miles away and Yao Mao was five miles away, where the Yellow River made a small turn to the north. The ancients dug cave dwellings to live in the mountain ridges and named them Yaomao. Another kind of legend, as the name suggests, should be related to Yao in history. According to legend, Yao's master and his servant traveled west to inspect the sufferings of the people in the world and control the flooding of the Yellow River. One day when they passed by this place, it was already dusk. In order not to disturb the people, Yao stayed quietly. Yao could not rest and it was not dawn. Just left quietly.

The third rumor is that in times of war and chaos, generals were afraid of place names. The villagers told them that this was Shijiagou. The military leader asked again what village was further ahead. The villagers told him that it was Yaomin Village. The military leader mistakenly heard that Yaomin was dying. The military leader thought that this was Shijiagou. Going forward would be fatal to the village. Feeling that it was unlucky and unfavorable to start the army, he ordered the troops to turn around and return to the original route, thus saving the village from the suffering of war. Later generations gradually heard that the homophony of Yao Min and Hao Ming was not pleasant, so it was later renamed Yaomao.
