Beicheng Village, Weinan: Aerial photography of Bai Juyi family cemetery in Tang Dynasty.

In the field on the north side of Beicheng Village, Longbei Town, Linwei District, Weinan City, there is a large dense group of ancient tombs, which is the family cemetery of Bai Juyi in Tang Dynasty. It is located in the first terrace on the north bank of Weihe River, with flat terrain and wide vision. On August 22nd, 211, Bai Juyi's family cemetery was announced by the people's government of Linwei District, Weinan City as a district-level cultural relics protection unit-

Shen Weilong: "A Brother of Shaanxi Wenbo after 9s"

On the evening of July 21st, 221, my friends and I drove away from Weinan City and went for a ride on the north bank of Weihe River. After passing Xiangshan Avenue in Weinan Economic and Technological Development Zone, we came to Beicheng Village, not far from the roadside, and visited the Bai Juyi family cemetery here again. The gate was locked and I couldn't enter, so I operated my own drone to take aerial photos of the cemetery.

On the morning of February 26th, 217, I rode my bike alone to the Bai Juyi family cemetery in Beicheng Village. At that time, it was called "Bai Cemetery". When I was taking pictures outside the door, I happened to meet the uncle who was the doorkeeper and opened the gate of the cemetery specially for me, so I was lucky enough to visit the park.

in a blink of an eye, four years passed. Although the surrounding villages have been ruined, the environment of Bai cemetery remains very good. The whole cemetery is surrounded by walls, forming an independent cemetery, which faces south and is rectangular, about 1 meters long from north to south and about 5 meters wide from east to west.

The drone rises from the square outside the gate, flies over the cemetery from south to north, and flies towards the cemetery behind it. In front of the tomb, there is a sacrificial area, and many monuments are erected on both sides, including many stone tablets erected by Bai Juyi's descendants such as the World Bai Clan Association, the Bai Association in Singapore and the Bai delegation in South Korea.

in the sixth year of Tang Yuanhe (811), Bai Juyi's mother Chen died, and Bai Juyi returned to Xiaguan's hometown to observe filial piety for three years, and moved and buried the coffins of his great-grandfather Bai Wen, grandfather Bai Zhong, grandmother Xue Shi and father Bai Jigeng from Xinzheng, Henan and Xiangyang, Hubei. Later, Bai Juyi's brother Bai Youwen, brother Bai Xingjian and cousin Bai Min were all buried here, gradually forming this large-scale Bai family cemetery.

According to statistics, there are 13 members of the Bai family buried here, as well as the cenotaph of Bai Juyi and Bai Yujing, totaling 15 tombs of similar size. From south to north, it is divided into four rows, which are clear and neat. These tombs are conical in appearance, about 1.5 meters high and 2.5 meters in diameter. In front of each tomb stands a tall stone tablet with the owner's name written in gold on the surface.

In the first row of tombs, members of the 4th Bai family with the lowest generation are buried, namely Bai Youmei, Bai Yujing, Bai Juyi, Bai Youwen, Bai Xingjian and Bai Minzhong from west to east. The second row and the first row of tombs are staggered, and Bai Juyi's parents are buried. From west to east, they are Bai Jining, Bai Jilike, Bai Jigeng, Bai Jiqi, Bai Jiping, Bai Jikang, etc. Bai Juyi's ancestors Bai Zhong and Bai Hong were buried in the third row, and Bai Wen, Bai Juyi's great grandfather, was buried in the middle of the fourth row.

During Tang Xuanzong's reign, the local Cheng Gong's tomb was sealed, a monument was erected and an altar was erected, which was magnificent, and sacrifices were made every year, and incense continued. During the Cultural Revolution, Bai Juyi's family cemetery was destroyed, and some of the unearthed monuments survived and were collected in Xi 'an Beilin Museum. It is said that in the cemetery, there is a piece of Tombstone, named "Tang's deceased teacher Zhi Shi gave Taiwei Taiyuan Baigong Tombstone".

After the reform and opening up, descendants of the Bai family at home and abroad came here to seek roots and worship their ancestors and rebuild the cemetery, covering an area of about 17 mu. It looks at Chang 'an, the capital of the Tang Dynasty in the west, the imperial tombs of the Tang Dynasty in the north, the magnificent Huashan Mountain in the east and the Wei River flowing in the south. It is a veritable land of geomantic omen.

Nowadays, with the continuous development of the city, villages and farmland are gradually disappearing, and earth-shaking changes are taking place around the Bai Juyi family cemetery. In the future, through the planning of Weinan Economic and Technological Development Zone, a ruins park with the theme of Bai Juyi culture will be built here. Let's wait and see!
