Fishing tips in spring and summer

Spring is a long-awaited season for fishermen. However, how to catch fish in spring has always been a topic of discussion among fishing friends. I think that as far as spring fishing as a whole is concerned, there are nodes, key points, and difficulties. Let’s not talk about the key points of the nodes first, but focus on the difficult points. It is difficult to say that the temperature changes rapidly with the seasons in spring. In early spring, the water temperature is low and fish do not like to open their mouths. Therefore, before discussing spring fishing, I would like to make a brief analysis of the climate characteristics and fish activity in the north and south of my country during this season, which will help us better grasp the rules, take the initiative, and catch early spring fish easily and comfortably. .

As we all know, spring division refers to the period from spring to Grain Rain in the twenty-four solar terms of the lunar calendar. Because the climate characteristics of our country are from low to high, and from south to north, the temperature difference is gradually widened as the dimension increases, showing that the seasons are the same but the scenery is different. In the south, especially near the coastal areas, due to the early arrival of spring, after the beginning of spring, even all year round There are fish to catch. In their free time, fishing friends can do whatever they want, stroll by the water, swing a fishing rod, dance with mermaids, and enjoy fishing. In areas north of the Yellow River, spring is indeed late. Going further north, like Heilongjiang, Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang and other border areas, rivers and lakes are still covered with ice and snow at this time. Even in the vast areas of North China, after the beginning of spring, there will be no fish for nearly a month because the ice on the water has not completely melted and cannot bear the weight of people. In addition, the temperature is low, and there will be no fish for nearly a month. Taking the Beijing area as an example, the weather gradually gets warmer after the Waking of Insects and the Spring Equinox. However, there are more abnormal weather conditions at this time, the sun is not strong, and the temperature difference between day and night is large. Moreover, this season is also the windy season in the north. Ancient poems say that the spring breeze in February is like Scissors. It means that the leaves in the north turn green in the wind. The windy nature in spring will bring many unfavorable factors to fishing, especially in previous years when spring comes, we often encounter sand and dust weather. After many years of construction of protective forests in northern Shaanxi, the dust and sand flying situation has been improved, but the monsoon The weather is still there. At this time, the fish will also be stiff due to the cold lake water just after emerging from the ice. Even under the early spring sun, it still seems lazy and not stretched enough, and has not fully restored its vitality; its gastrointestinal digestion ability is relatively weak. Weak, poor appetite; small range of activities, still dormant in deep water most of the time, unwilling to take the initiative to look for food. These are all disadvantages that make it difficult to catch fish in early spring. Only by understanding the climate characteristics and fish characteristics in spring, concentrating on fishing methods, carefully operating each step, carefully grasping various links, enhancing pertinence, overcoming blindness, and being targeted, can we be invincible. Looking back on my daily exchanges with fishing friends and carefully reviewing my spring fishing notes for many years, especially combined with practical experience, I gradually became clear about how to catch early spring fish in my mind, and summarized them into six "points", which are intended to attract others. *** Let’s discuss together and sincerely look forward to getting advice from all the teachers.

1. The weather is warmer

In early spring, when the temperature changes from warm to cold, you should choose sunny weather, especially sunny days for several consecutive days, which is the best time to go fishing. Usually on a sunny day, the wind force is below level 3, and the best time is from 9 am to 3 pm. During this period, not only people will feel warm when bathed in the sun, but the fish will also be happy and comfortable, and they will not let go of something delicious if they see it. Fishing should be avoided on cloudy, rainy, windy days. On cloudy and rainy days or days with winds exceeding level 4, not only people will feel uncomfortable, but also fish will hide in deep water and not move. Fishing at this time will usually not yield good harvests.

2. The fishing position should be closer

Fishing on the edge in spring and fishing on grass in spring is the fishing experience summed up by fishermen in long-term practice. In bays facing the sun and leeward, there are grass, stones, tree stumps and other obstacles in the water, usually close to the shore. The water level is shallow, the sun can shine directly to the bottom, and the water body heats up quickly. It is a place where fish like to look for food in early spring. Choose here. Being in the ditch often produces unexpected results. As for the depth of fishing, it should be determined according to the situation, usually no more than 1 meter is appropriate.

3. Set up more fishing spots

When fishing in early spring, due to the low water temperature and insufficient fish vitality, it is often difficult to stick to one fishing spot to be effective. According to the characteristics of lazy fish and small activity radius in spring, more nests should be built. It is usually advisable to set up 3-4 nests. In this way, a travel method can be adopted. If there are no fish in one fishing spot, several nests can be fished in rotation. What you need to pay attention to when making nests is that the bait should be precise but not necessarily large in quantity. Use a nest making device when making nests. This can be done accurately, saving time, effort and materials.

4. The bait should be fresher

When the temperature is below 15℃ (usually the temperature in the reservoir area is still 2℃-3℃ lower), it is better to use fishy bait, especially live bait. Used in various plain baits. It is sufficient to use live insects, fishy-flavored commercial bait, and brewed wine and rice for cloth nests, while live bait must be used for fishing bait, and the fresher the better. The live baits usually used in this season in the north include earthworms, red worms, mealworms, etc. The most commonly used are red worms and red earthworms. Red worms should be hooked in different ways according to their size: small worms or three or four worms should be tied to the hook with red thread; if a single worm is hooked, a large one should be used and the worm should be gently penetrated through the abdomen. The tip of the hook should not be exposed and body fluids should not leak out as much as possible. Only take two ends of the red earthworm and remove the middle section. The hook tip will not be exposed when hooking, allowing the earthworm to better maintain its activity. Fresh red worms and red earthworms are constantly twisting on the hook, which can effectively entice fish to take the bait.

5. The fishing rig should be more flexible

In early spring, the activity of fish is poor, the fish mouth is light, and the signal is weak. The main target fish are crucian carp, small white fish, white minnow, and horse mouth. , male fish and other small fish, this puts forward special requirements for fishing tackle combinations, which are mainly reflected in the four words of small, smart, soft and light. Small means using thread, hook and float to make it small. Be sure to choose high-quality fishing line. In early spring, my main line is No. 0.8, and my brain line is No. 0.2 live wire (this line is soft after entering the water, and its pulling force is more than three times that of nylon line). The hook is No. 3 white pill (this hook has thin strips, hard steel, sharp and tough, and is a sharp tool for catching spring fish). It is advisable to use No. 1 short-tail small float for drifting. Some fishing friends may worry that fishing lines with thin hooks and small hooks in the wild will cut off the thread or decouple and run away fish. In fact, this is not the case. Practice has proved that thin lines with small hooks and small drifts are highly sensitive. As long as they are carefully controlled, there will be no thread cut off or dehooking and running away fish. There are often amazing gains. The spirit is to adjust the fishing group to be good, but when it comes to timing of lifting the rod, you cannot lift the rod too early or too fast because of the bad fishing group. You must wait until the bait is completely sucked into the fish's mouth before lifting it. It is usually a momentary flick of the wrist when the float rises significantly or floats completely black. At this time, lifting the pole is almost certain. Soft refers to choosing a soft tonality fishing rod. Using a soft rod not only feels good in the hand, but more importantly, it is easy to control, making the operation more precise and delicate, and it can also prevent the line from breaking and running away fish. Lightness requires gentle and flexible control during fishing. Because the line group is thin, you should overcome the need to move too hard, too fast, or too hard, especially when dealing with big fish. Do not panic and cause operational errors. You must take advantage of the soft rod to control the fish flexibly, and avoid pulling hard. Here is a special reminder: precisely because the line is small and the hook is small, you must not try to save trouble by landing flying fish. As long as the fish weighs more than 100g, you must use a dip net. In addition, after entering mid-spring, as the temperature gradually rises and the vitality of fish continues to increase, it is necessary to gradually increase the line thickness and hook size.

6. Better to be invisible

Being good at hiding and preventing fish from noticing or being frightened is one of the prerequisites for catching good fish. In spring, since fishing is mostly shallow and shallow, it is even more important to hide the body. There are many ways to conceal, but here I will only focus on three points: First, concealment clothing. The important thing is to dress smartly, and wear clothes that are close to the natural scenery at the same time. For example, camouflage clothing makes the color of the clothing blend with the color of the natural scenery, making it difficult for fish to detect. If the contrast between the clothes and the natural scenery is too obvious, abnormal reflections will be formed in the water, making fish particularly alert. The second is covert action. When picking up and placing items, be gentle with your hands and feet, handle and put them down gently, move quickly and neatly, avoid dragging and making big noises, and avoid making loud noises. Everything is done quietly so that the fish are not disturbed. The third is to move covertly. Because there are multiple dens for fishing in rotation, you need to move back and forth. When moving from one fishing point to another, remember not to walk along the water's edge, as the sound of footsteps and the shadow reflected in the water will also alert the fish. It is recommended to take the "M" route, which can greatly reduce the noise of walking and the projection of the body in the water, so that the fish can come and go without a trace, without anyone noticing, so that the fish can take bait in a naturally relaxed state.

Generally speaking, summer is the off-season for fishing because of the high temperatures, with normal temperatures around 30 degrees Celsius.

Selection of fishing spots

Choosing appropriate fishing spots is also an important part of summer fishing. Due to the hot weather, especially sunny days, when the sun shines directly on the water surface, the water surface starts to heat up from 9 a.m.. Fish are also afraid of heat like people. They hide in big rocks, coastal caves or under the shade of trees to enjoy the cool and look for food. , so fishing spots should be in cool waters along ponds, lakes, and rivers where branches extend above the water and are shaded by leaves, or in cool waters where there are stone beams on the water, beside boats, and bamboo rafts, wooden rafts, etc. to block the sun. If there are aquatic plants or duckweed in these shady waters, it will be an environment where fish like to live.

There are several key points that must be grasped when choosing fishing spots in summer: There are many rainy days in summer, and there are often heavy rains, so there are often opportunities for rising water. There are a lot of fish swimming upstream at the entrance. If you seize the opportunity to set the hook at this time, you can often get excellent harvests.

Selection of fishing time

In terms of fishing time, because the weather is hot at this time, the hook should be set when it is cooler. It is best to get up early and stay late, usually before 9 a.m. and After 5pm. In addition, the temperature is not high on rainy days in summer, especially when it clears up after the rain and there is a breeze blowing on the water, which is also a good time for fishing. But be careful: When fishing on cloudy days in summer, there are more fish in shallower waters and it is easier to take the bait.

Selection of bait

Due to the high temperature in summer, the appetite of fish is far less strong than in spring. Bait that is more attractive to fish should be used. In terms of meat bait, you can catch some For locusts, grasshoppers, crickets, etc., you can catch some red worms, earthworms, shrimps, etc.; for vegetarian bait, you can use apples, bananas, mulberries, cherries and other fruits or fried dough and rice grains, preferably those with strong fragrance and bright colors. It should be brightly colored and the amount should be large, so that it will be more attractive to fish. If necessary, you can also use some sour or sesame oil-coated dough and tender corn kernels.
