Is there any allusion to the origin of the name Shengguandu in Hanyang District, Wuhan City?
In the past, the terrain of ancient Hanyang was low-lying, with rivers and lakes as dense as a spider web, and transportation was generally by waterway. Shengguandu was a choke point entering Wuhan from the south. Shengguandu was originally called Shengguandu. Why is it called Shengguandu? There are three theories about its origin.
The first theory is:
In 1850 AD, the Jintian Uprising led by Hong Xiuquan broke out in Guangxi. After the uprising was successful, Hong Xiuquan led the Northern Expedition. The Taiping army was in turmoil, and the Qing army fled. Hong Xiuquan had great ambitions. He was not satisfied with occupying a city or a pond, but wanted to completely overthrow the rulers of the Qing Dynasty and establish a peaceful and prosperous era. Within two years, the Taiping Army entered Hubei from Yuezhou. Hong Xiuquan personally led an army of 300,000, aiming directly at Wuchang.
The Qing army hurriedly built two earthen hills at the dangerous Shengguan Ferry, and sent elite troops to guard them, waiting for the Taiping Army to come. If the Taiping Army wants to invade Wuchang, it must first remove the "nail" of Shengguandu.
A fierce battle is inevitable.
Taiping Army general Hu Yihuang led the leading troops to Shengguandu. After a short rest, he wanted to take advantage of the overwhelming power of killing all the way to capture the ferry in one go.
At dawn that day, the south bank of the ferry suddenly became dusty and noisy. A troop wearing turbans rushed northward with shouts and shouts. At the head of the team was a high flag with a big Chinese character "Hu" embroidered on it.
The troops quickly occupied the south bank of the ferry.
Hu Yihuang, who was good at fighting tough battles, took a look at the terrain, arranged his troops in a good position, and then ordered an attack.
Suddenly, thousands of Taiping officers and soldiers who were good at fighting desperately jumped into the water one by one, and swarmed and swam hard to the north bank.
The Taiping Army swam to the center of the river and encountered a rapid whirlpool, and many people were swept away by the rapids. At this juncture, the Qing soldiers hidden on the two mountains on the other side began to fire arrows from a high position again. Poison arrows roared towards them one after another. Those soldiers who were good at water and could not be swept away by the rapids were shot in the head by poison arrows one by one, and slowly sank into the water. Hu Yihuang was afraid of more casualties, so he quickly ordered his troops to retreat and stop the attack.
As soon as they saw the Taiping Army retreating, the hidden Qing troops on the other side all stood on the two temporary hills, shouting with pride: "Changmaozi, you can't even think of crossing the river, I want to Let your whole army be destroyed here!" Others shouted: "You want to cross the river? Just cross it and wait until the river freezes over!" It was March in spring, so if you want to cross the river, Ice, you have to wait on the south bank for more than half a year. When the Taiping soldiers heard the insults, they were so angry that they wanted to fight to the other side and cut out the tongues of the Qing soldiers. Hu Yihuang was so angry that he gritted his teeth and was furious. He learned from the failure of the first attack and decided to avoid the two high mounds and launch an attack on both sides of the ferry.
Hu Yihuang divided his troops into two groups and attacked from the left and right sides at the same time.
After observing the movements of the Taiping Army, the cunning Qing army also divided the troops into two groups and arranged to wait in two different places on the left and right.
The second attack began. The brave Taiping soldiers jumped into the rapids and advanced towards the other side.
The Qing army fired thousands of arrows, and one Taiping soldier after another was shot and swept into the rapids. Those few who reached the other side were already soaked with water and exhausted, and were quickly surrounded and killed by the waiting Qing troops.
This fierce battle lasted from morning to dusk. The Taiping Army launched round after round of attacks, but they were all repelled by the Qing army. The losses were quite heavy and the situation was very critical.
Seeing that it was difficult for the Taiping Army to win for a while, Hu Yihuang sized up the situation and had no choice but to order a temporary halt to the attack.
It seems that this "hard nail" is not so easy to pull out! Hu Yihuang had no choice but to set up camp on the south bank of Shengguandu and summon his military advisers and generals to make suggestions. Everyone believes that fighting head-on like today is not the answer. The only solution is to take a long-term approach, seek good strategies, and act according to the opportunity.
"But time is running out, and you guys can't wait!" Hu Yihuang walked around the military tent impatiently, "The large army led by the King of Heaven will arrive soon. If we can't Shengguandu was quickly captured. Once the reinforcements from the Qing army arrived in Wuchang, the combat deployment of our entire army would be affected.
After deliberation, we finally decided to recruit ships locally to form a force. The temporary naval force quickly captured Shengguandu.
It was late at night. Except for the defensive sentries, most of the soldiers fell asleep, but Hu Yihuang couldn't fall asleep. He led the troops all the way, and he had never been so useless and suffered such heavy losses as he was today. As he was thinking about walking, he came to the river without knowing it. Looking down, he couldn't believe his eyes. He saw that the surface of the river, which was flowing rapidly during the day, was actually covered with a layer of ice. He couldn't believe it was true, and was worried that the ice was too thin to walk on, so he tentatively stood up and took a few steps forward cautiously. It's really okay, just walk over like this, it won't be in the way at all. In order to further confirm his conclusion, he stamped his feet vigorously. The ice layer was quite thick and there were no cracks at all. Hu Yihuang was overjoyed and said to himself happily: "God is really helping me!" So he ran back to the camp, selected 500 strong soldiers, equipped them with sharp swords, mounted fast horses, and rode on the thick ground. Speeding across the ice, he stepped onto the other side like the wind, killing the patrolling sentries one by one like a gourd, and then entered the Qing army camp.
Every one of the Qing troops hid in their beds and fell asleep. They repelled the Taiping Army’s attacks again and again during the day. They never thought that the Taiping Army would come to steal the camp at night; besides, there was a turbulent situation. The river is a natural barrier, so it's really foolproof, so you can sit back and relax. When the Taiping Army descended from the sky, they were all dumbfounded with fright. Before they understood what was going on, they fell into confusion and became ghosts under the knife.
The Taiping Army successfully occupied Shengguandu.
At noon the next day, King Hong Xiuquan led a large group of troops to arrive. Hu Yihuang led his officers and soldiers to stand at Shengguan Ferry to solemnly welcome the arrival of the army.
After crossing the ferry, Hong Xiuquan stood on the two hills of the Qing military base on the north bank. While looking at the dangerous terrain of Shengguandu, he couldn't help but listen to Hu Yihuang's story about the battle to seize this choke point. He gave a thumbs up and praised repeatedly: "Good, good, good!"
In order to reward the meritorious soldiers, Hong Xiuquan immediately ordered that each of Hu Yihuang's five hundred warriors be promoted to one level. The ferry has since been renamed Shengguandu.
The second theory is:
It is said that Wu Guolao, a famous scholar, went to Beijing to take the exam and came to Shengguandu. It was getting late and there was no one at the ferry. Wu Guolao raised his eyes and looked around. The night was covering the vast wilderness, and a sense of loneliness and fear could not help but surge into his heart. In order to embolden himself and to find a resting place as quickly as possible, Wu Guolao held his hands in the shape of a trumpet and shouted in a long voice: "Cross the river - cross the river -"
No one agreed, only a few unclear echoes came from the horizon.
Wu Guolao became anxious. He shouted louder and longer, "Cross the river—cross the river—"
Okay After a long time, a sick old man rowed a wooden boat slowly over.
When he saw the ferry, Wu Guolao was extremely happy, but he still couldn't help complaining: "Old man, I've been calling for you for a long time, why did you just bring the boat over? "Yeah?"
"I...I...bang huh huh..." The boatman was about to answer, but suddenly he coughed "bang huh huh".
"Old man, what's wrong with you? Are you frozen?" Wu Guolao asked eagerly.
The boatman coughed for a long time and breathed heavily and told him: "Oh! This is an old problem. I originally had to guard the ferry every night, but in the past two days, I have had an old problem. I can't get up. I'm so sorry for keeping my husband waiting for so long." Seeing the old man dragging his sick body to the ferry, Wu Guolao felt very sorry and kept saying thanks.
During the boat trip, Wu Guolao told the old man apologetically that if it were not for the triennial meeting, he would not have called the ferry in a hurry. The old man became excited when he heard it and said that this matter should be urgent. I hope you can take the exam as scheduled and get a high-ranking official. I also hope that you will be a good official after becoming an official. This has helped us fulfill our wish.
Wu Guolao said: "Old man, just say whatever you want. As long as I have the ability, I, Wu Guolao, will definitely do it."
The old man paused and pointed to the ferry. Said: "Look at how inconvenient this Shengguan Ferry is across the main road from south to north. If you become a high official and build a bridge at this ferry, wouldn't it be a great virtue?"
Wu Guolao listened and nodded deeply, keeping the boatman's words firmly in his heart.
As a result, Wu Guolao passed the college entrance examination and became a senior official in high school.
He did not forget that the old man sent him across the river to Beijing to take the exam when he was ill, nor did he forget what the old man said to him. So, the first thing he did after taking office was to build a bridge - in Sheng A long wooden bridge was erected at Guandu Port to provide convenience for pedestrians traveling from south to north.
In order to commemorate this kind act of Wu Guolao, later generations changed Shengguandu to Shengguandu.
The third theory is:
Once upon a time, there was a scholar who took a fancy to the Feng Shui treasure land of Shengguandu in Houguan Lake, so he built a thatched shed by the lake to live in seclusion. .
Coats looked like ordinary people. He opened a piece of wasteland by the lake, planted vegetables, read books, or sat by the lake with a fishing rod in his hand to fish. sky.
Slowly, Coats became very familiar with the local residents, and everyone treated him like a normal person.
Finally, the whereabouts of this noble scholar were secretly investigated by officials sent by the imperial court. It turned out that this hermit had the same literary, Taoist and military strategies as Zhuge Liang. Because the emperor at that time was a very stupid emperor who made the entire officialdom corrupt, he had little interest in being an official. He said: "It's not impossible to be an official, but I can't accompany a foolish king and help him. If a wise king appears, I will try my best to help him." However, the emperor of the current dynasty, the faint king, took a fancy to him. He had to be appointed an official to do it for him. He had no choice but to sneak out of the capital and hide in Houguan Lake. He lived like an ordinary person, and no one could figure out that he had this extraordinary experience.
The faint king suddenly died of illness. The prince succeeded to the throne. The new emperor had extraordinary ambitions. He wanted to govern the country well, so he looked for talents everywhere, and someone recommended this scholar. The new emperor had heard about him for a long time and wanted to recruit him to his side immediately. Therefore, he set up a special team to find this expert within a limited time. If an expert is found within the specified time, a reward will be given; if there is no news after the time limit, their head will be killed. Therefore, these people did not dare to neglect at all and worked very hard to find it. The hard work paid off, and before half the time had passed, Gao Shi was found by them.
After listening to these people's accounts, Gao Shi felt that the new emperor really wanted to make a difference, so he decided to "come out" and walk out of Houguan Lake to assist the new emperor and benefit the people.
The new emperor was overjoyed when he heard that Gao Shi had been found and was willing to serve him. He immediately sent a team of mighty honor guards all the way to Shengguan Ferry to greet him with gongs and drums. He went to Beijing to take up his post.
Gao Shi crossed the ferry and, accompanied by a guard of honor, went to the capital to become his senior official. The Shengguan Ferry behind him was changed into Shengguandu Ferry. Some people also think that when he lived steadily in Houguan Lake, he was actually waiting to become an official. However, he did not want to be a faint official, but just wanted to be an upright official. Therefore, many people also called Houguan Lake. From Houguan Lake. (Yufeng, Ruan Xienan, Zhong Guokui)
