Main functions of oak trees
Tussah used for stocking in China belongs to Quercus of FAGACEAE (see Quercus). Its leaves are the main food of tussah. The main tree species for stocking tussah are Quercus liaotungensis, Quercus acutissima, Quercus mongolica and Quercus variabilis. In addition, oak trees, Quercus acutissima and oak trees can also be stocked. China's Liaoning, Henan, Shandong, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Guizhou and other provinces are the main producing areas of tussah stocking. Tussah trees used for stocking tussah must be cultivated and pruned to make the number and spacing of plants suitable and the plant type short before they can become tussah farms. Tree types can be divided into non-arid type and moderate drought type. The moderate drought type is better, with large crown and uniform distribution, high utilization rate of spatial light energy, high and stable leaf yield and thick leaf quality. The disease of oak leaves is mainly powdery mildew, which can be controlled by chemical agents. The pests that eat oak leaves are mainly larvae of gypsy moth, caterpillar, oak pink boat moth, yellow star boat moth and so on. Oak bark has the effects of astringing, stopping diarrhea and treating dysentery, so it is included in the hospital's medicinal materials.
