How to improve the survival rate of seedlings by planting (the main measures to ensure the survival rate of seedlings)
Today is the rain solar term among the 24 solar terms. The arrival of the rain solar term also indicates that the rainfall will continue to increase, the temperature will get warmer, the land will melt, and agricultural production will gradually begin.
Planting trees also needs to be prepared before transplanting seedlings. How to control the method of seedling planting is also the key to improve the survival rate of seedlings.
According to my own years of garden management experience, the survival factors of seedling transplanting are summarized as five points. As long as these things are done, it is basically to plant a tree and live a tree. Although the survival rate of 100% cannot be guaranteed, it is also very effective.
First, the preparation work before transplanting seedlings
Before transplanting, the seedlings need to be watered once every 10 day to replenish sufficient water for the seedlings, which is also conducive to strengthening the stability of soil balls during seedling raising.
Then prune the seedlings that need to be transplanted, cut off weak branches, pests and diseases, and minimize the branches of the crown.
Apply bactericide or paint to the trimmed wound surface to prevent the wound surface from being infected by germs and reduce water evaporation.
Second, the transportation and storage of seedlings
When digging saplings, we should try our best to protect the main root system in good condition and increase soil balls appropriately. The bigger the soil ball, the higher the survival rate of trees.
When transporting saplings, it is necessary to avoid the phenomenon of bark bumping, so as to reduce the occurrence of trauma. For parts that are accidentally injured, it is necessary to apply bactericide to prevent bacterial infection.
Before transportation and after unloading, water should be sprayed on the seedlings at least twice a day to keep the humidity of the seedlings. In addition, seedlings should be stored in a cool place.
If there is no cool place to put it, it is necessary to cover and shade the seedlings to avoid sun exposure and increase water transpiration.
For seedlings that cannot be planted for a long time, it is especially necessary to pay attention to the moisturizing of the roots, and the roots can be temporarily buried or covered with wet grass.
Third, dig a tree pit
The size of the tree pit should be at least 15 cm larger than that around the seedling soil ball, so that backfill soil can promote the growth of seedling fibrous roots.
Don't dig the tree pit too long in advance, which will easily lead to transpiration loss of the soil around the tree pit. Better dig and plant now.
If the soil planted by saplings is poor, such as salt-alkali hardening, poor adhesion and poor water permeability, or there are many gravel blocks in the construction area. Then it is necessary to replace loam with good air permeability in the tree pit, which is also the key to ensure the healthy growth of seedlings after survival.
Fourth, planting and watering.
The depth of transplanting is not easy to be too deep, which is basically the same as that of seedling raising. Too deep and too shallow are not conducive to the survival of seedlings.
Before planting, root water can be sprayed on soil balls, and seedlings transplanted without soil balls should be soaked in root water 1 to 2 hours in advance, and then transplanted after drying.
The saplings are placed in the into the pit to fill the soil, and then the tree pit is ready to be watered once, and the water must be poured thoroughly.
After that, it needs to be watered once a week and three times in a row. After each watering, you need to loosen the soil once to avoid cracks in the soil.
Five, late planting management
If there is wind in the local area, the planted seedlings should be supported and protected to avoid shaking the seedlings due to the wind, affecting the stability of the root system, or causing the seedlings to be broken or damaged due to the wind.
If the planting season of saplings is still hot, you can spray water on saplings every day to humidify them, or spray water-retaining agent every other day or two to reduce excessive evaporation of water from saplings.
For the seedlings transplanted in the same year, their cold resistance is poor. Before winter comes, we should take corresponding cold-proof and warm-keeping measures, such as pouring antifreeze, painting tree trunks or binding straw and straw ropes. To promote the safe overwintering of seedlings.
To sum up, when transplanting seedlings, as long as the above five points are done well, you can basically keep alive. When seedling transplantation encounters the problem of low survival rate, we can also refer to the above five points to find out the reasons for the low survival rate and correct them, so as to improve the survival rate of planted trees.
