What does it mean to be cold at the age of four, and then know that pines and cypresses are dying?

Excerpted from Nan's Analects of Confucius

Confucius said: when I was young, I was cold, and later I knew that pine and cypress were withered.

It's freezing, all the plants and trees are withered, and only the pine and cypress are evergreen-the climate in Taiwan Province Province is invisible, and the mainland has four distinct seasons-which is Confucius' exclamation. Life depends on the final conclusion. A person can only see his own character in hardships, but usually he can't.

Wen Tianxiang, for example, is an example. He is a romantic genius when the country has nothing to do. Who can see that he turned out to be such a honest and upright man? Therefore, the ancients said that "the wind knows the grass, and the board swings to know the loyal minister." When the strong wind came, all the grass fell down, except one on the top of the mountain, which can be used as medicine. It can also be seen in Taiwan Province Province, and it is called "living alone". At high altitude, all grasses don't grow, only this kind of grass grows, so it is called "unique", that is, strong grass, which can't be blown down by strong winds. When the great storm of the times comes, personality is still quite unshakable, unaffected by the material environment, and does not change with the different social times. When the country was in chaos, we saw loyal ministers, that is, Confucius said, "When the cold comes and the summer goes, we will know that pines and cypresses are dying."
