Kunshan is located in the southeast of Jiangsu Province, between Shanghai and Suzhou. It is bordered by Changshu and Taicang in the northeast, Jiading and Qingpu in Shanghai in the southeast, Wujiang District, Xiangcheng District and Suzhou Industrial Park in the west and Jiaxing in Zhejiang in the southwest.

Kunshan is located in Taihu Plain in the Yangtze River Delta, with dense river network and flat terrain, slightly inclined from southwest to northeast, with a small natural slope.
