Looking back on the 20th anniversary of Genesis: heartless feelings.
Now another 20 years have passed, and like Hong Kong movies in the impression of fans, even Hong Kong-made TV dramas are gradually losing their characteristics. On the one hand, of course, I feel sorry for the reality that talents are dying. On the other hand, in the production stage, we began to cooperate with mainland merchants and consciously turned to the market. I often put the concept in the first place to write essays, losing my previous creative advantages, and I can't produce two or three really excellent plays all the year round.
Looking back on 1999, Hong Kong opera is in a weak period, which can't be compared with the golden age of talented people in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The Genesis project is a super drama with a long length. Although experts who are used to the theme of family business wars are at the bottom of two successful dramas with about 60 episodes a few years ago, in order to balance the rhythm of the plot and maintain its appeal, they are actually divided into two large units with about 50 episodes each, and the main characters adjusted before and after focus on different story themes. Genesis, a major drama, is relatively stable, which is quite different from the style of Hong Kong drama in the early 1990s. It emphasizes individuality, is commercialized in large quantities, and even attracts people's attention by grey stories. However, in terms of inheriting the tradition, it is still a relatively compact arrangement of character events that constantly collide with sparks. In the length of 100 episode, there is absolutely no water injection plot like many long dramas with 70 or 80 episodes today, and the overall sense of rhythm can be achieved. All the links are in place, which really tests the director's level.
Protagonist: Four leading men collide and sparks bloom.
There are many characters in Genesis. The main characters are outstanding and unforgettable, such as Ye Rongtian, Zhang Zili, Xu Wenbiao and Ma Zhiqiang. None of them are immutable. Genesis, as a TV series that wins by portraying characters, deserves its classic status. The secret of the success of the play is actually the growth and transformation of the characters, which is particularly obvious and successful in Hero.
Let's talk about Ye Rongtian first. He is the soul of the whole play. As an epoch-making successful person in the business circle, Ye Rongtian should say that 99 episodes of 100 are not successful. Arguably, the main dramatic conflicts in Genesis are mainly in the fields of real estate and commerce, but as far as Ye Rongtian is concerned, I'm afraid these are not his plot lines. On the contrary, the emphasis is on depicting the growth history of Ye Rongtian. Compared with the first half and the second half, Ye Rongtian's personality is almost completely different, which also makes Gallen Lo aware of the different performance methods.
There is no doubt that Gallen Lo is the first-class strength school of Hong Kong drama in the 1990s. If we go back to 1989, he is still a playboy like Ni in Unlucky. After two dramas, Man in Heaven and Earth and Passion in Heaven and Earth, it is obvious that no one can shake his position as the first hero in Genesis, although it can't be said that he propped up the whole drama alone. Even Chen Jinhong and Guo Jinan are first-class figures in acting and image, even though Louis Koo is at the best stage in acting and image.
Ye Rongtian is brave and impatient ahead. No matter what the result is, he is bent on becoming a real estate tycoon. Although his original intention is good, he mainly takes care of his family. Ye Rongtian has nothing to say about his parents' filial piety, but it is not really "obedient", let alone "sensible". Because he never stood in the other side's position and acted too self, it caused a series of serious consequences and triggered the plot to advance.
From the attitude towards younger brother Rongze, younger sister Wen Ya, good friend Wen Biao, and even Xin Ying and Helen who like him, including the contradiction with the second uncle Ye Xiaoli's family, it can be said that the whole story conflict is caused by Ye Rongtian. Ye Rongtian is ambitious. Although his mind is flexible, he actually looks like an adult. If his father Ye earnestly preached to Tang Priest, it would be impossible to start all over again in the second half of the year.
Of course, the father's influence only comes from the side, mainly because Ye Rongtian really experienced a major blow, which prompted his character to change and precipitate. This is the change of Wen Biao and the death of his body, and more importantly, the death of his beloved Xin Ying.
Ye Rongtian in the second half has a different image orientation from the frontcourt. After myna appeared, Ye Rongtian began to be generous, considerate and impatient with others. Even Zhang Zili repeatedly pointed to pick things up, and even Ma Zhiqiang, who is famous for his good temper, couldn't help it. On the contrary, Ye Rongtian can be patient and try to infer Zhang Zili's motives from a positive perspective. Gallen Lo's performance of such a character, with great contrast before and after, runs through the whole play, is authentic and credible, and is an unprecedented classic shaping. For example, in several important sensational scenes, such as Ye Rongtian kneels and repents after Yavin is insulted, Tian Rong and Wenbiao face the death of Zhiqiang's parents in the office, facing the death of Xin Ying, the mother operating behind his back, Yavin's death and so on. Gallen Lo's acting has stood the test and is competent for the whole play.
As opposites who have great influence on Ye Rongtian, Xu Wenbiao and Zhang Zili each support half a play. They are a pair of half brothers. They haven't been together for a long time in life, but their feelings are so deep that they have lived a specious life together, no matter right or wrong. However, the personality and environment of the two people determine the final different results of Wen Biao and Gigi Lai.
Xu Wenbiao's loss is not unrelated, especially the emotional changes of Cen. Ye Rongtian let this good friend go the wrong way and pushed his beloved woman to this friend. He has been thinking of some ingenious ways to change Wen Biao's outlook on life, values and world view. Xu Wenbiao realized the reality clearly, but other factors, such as his master in the Planning Bureau, Huo, his mother and his independent livelihood, objectively put Xu Wenbiao under great pressure and his mood was unstable. When Wen Biao finally changed completely because of murder, the psychological comfort he found was Tian Rong's chanting and influence on him, and even thought it was Tian Rong's betrayal. But there is another potential reason why Wen Biao left his ex-girlfriend Tina. The reason for leaving is that he thinks he is not rich economically.
Chen Jinhong explained the change of Wen Biao well, and the reason for going to extremes was as credible as possible. Wen Biao was implicated in the killing of classmates, such as Kouchangchang and Zhiqiang, arsonists and mothers, as well as Ye Ye. After Wen Biao arrived in Taiwan, he had a wonderful performance against Tian Rong, which has been talked about by many Hong Kong opera fans. In fact, at that time, Xu Wenbiao was a professional in the real estate industry, while Ye Rongtian was not a real professional. He still doesn't know the meaning of a smoke-free city. He just wanted Wen Biao to turn back, or forced him to turn back. Fortunately, Wen Biao's deep affection for Xin Ying finally played a role of influence. At least this disgusting reason makes the audience feel credible.
On the other hand, Zhang Zili only heard his name most of the time, thus creating some suspense. He appeared in the last few episodes of the first half, and he walked with Tian Ning to pave the way for the second half. The change of self-reliance is more tortuous than Wen Biao. Punk's origin shows that he has no good education, but he also has talent, which is a factor that lays his misfortune. If Zhang Zili is as well educated as Xu Wenbiao, he may eventually stop under the influence of his family. After all, Wen Biao still has a complete family, while Gigi Lai and his mother have been wandering in Taiwan Province and being bullied. After all, they have only been in Hong Kong for a few years to reunite with Uncle Kim. If it were not for this growing experience, hatred and revenge in self-reliance might not be so extreme, and in the end, it would not face an uncontrollable outcome.
Generally speaking, Zhang Zili's desire for revenge was entrusted by Wen Biao, and the cruelty of revenge was instigated by Xu Dahao. In the end, his talent for revenge was cultivated by Ye Xiaoli. Self-reliance finally commented that a joke was really in place five years after returning to Hong Kong: first, Ye Xiaoli was originally on the same side as him, but as a result, Ye Xiaoli suddenly accepted family relations and changed his mind; Second, Gao Meina was originally a chess piece that she found herself to insert. As a result, myna fell in love with Tian Rong; Third, Ye was going to use it, but he insulted Tian Ning. The fourth kind is the most unexpected and unacceptable for self-reliance. Tian Ning will lose his memory because of an accident, and his personality will change greatly ... Generally speaking, the fate of Zhang Zili's design was originally intended to form many advantages, and finally unpredictable variables appeared. The saddest thing is that after learning the truth of Wen Biao's death, Gigi Lai has been puzzled. His own life path has completely lost him.
Louis Koo's interpretation of Zhang Zili is different from that of the Philippines. In the Philippines, he negotiated with Ye Rongtian, and then he entered Minda to deal with Ye Rongtian. His self-reliance is only revenge, and he has not deteriorated himself. After Ye Xiaoli's death, his change began with "Lawyer Guan Guan", then went to Tiantai to kill Xu Wenkun by mistake, Xu Jia killed Xu by mistake, dealt with Ye, framed Ye Rongze, and dealt with the deterioration step by step. Finally, he dealt with Huo and Gao Shuigen, tortured Tian Ning, and even tried to kill completely innocent and his father Uncle Jin, so it was completely difficult to turn back on his own.
Zhang Zili's gradual madness and irrational changes are the best, richest, most profound and even most successful roles of Louis Koo since his debut. Finally, on his deathbed, although he laughed at himself, he didn't want to repent. Wen Biao really had the hope of turning back from his heart because of Xin Ying, and although Zhang Zili firmly controlled Tian Ning, it was essentially an occupation, and there was no love in his heart, so he couldn't turn back in the end. He is more pathetic than Wen Biao and becomes the most shocking role-shaping in the whole play.
Besides Ye Rongtian, who runs through the whole play, another similar protagonist is Ma Zhiqiang. The first half is a figure who mediates between Ye Rongtian and Xu Wenbiao, and the second half is a figure caught in the contradiction between Zhang Zili, Tian Ning and Ye Rongtian. Judging from the whole plot, Ma Zhiqiang's "instrumental" or "functional" color is quite heavy. For example, when he first went to Taiwan Province Province, he introduced Tian Ning. This seemingly insignificant plot actually caused a huge storm behind him. For example, Yawen was unfortunately insulted, his parents were killed, and his classmates were led to make a loud noise. He contributed to the intensification of the contradiction between Wen Biao and Tian Rong, the death of Wen Biao, and the deterioration of the atmosphere of self-reliance ... These key paragraphs are all related to Ma Zhiqiang.
His kindness was repeatedly emphasized in the play. It stands to reason that his tragedies and comedies are typical. Although Guo Jinan is definitely a powerful actor, if you look closely, the good man Ma Zhiqiang is the only protagonist in the play with flaws, because his role is too auxiliary, and his main task is to set off other protagonists and serial stories.
Just like the death of his most critical parents, Guo Jinan suddenly saw the truth for two nights, which should be a shocking performance: First, he saw Ye Rongtian and Xu Wenbiao confess in the Tian Li century, but Xu Wenbiao chased him but designed a rollover to defraud sympathy; Second, I saw a photo of Zhang Wenbiao killing my mother at Changkou's home. Guo Jinan's performance was very good, but at the end of the first half, because Ye Rongtian forced Wen Biao to turn back, he quickly let go of his grievances and chose to forgive Wen Biao. I can only say that this change is too deliberate. It is said that the expression of Wen Biao's donkey is still vivid in the eyes of the audience. The so-called conscientious Wonton Noodles boss protagonist can easily forgive the murderer, which is indeed a rare flaw in the whole play.
Actress: The appearance and acting skills are great.
The first heroine in the play is two sisters, Cen and Gao Meina, who are completely different in personality, and Guo Keying is competent for it alone. In TVB's list of first-line actresses, Guo Keying is not prolific. However, he really performed a hundred episodes of masterpieces from beginning to end. In the 1990s, there were Genesis and Detective Investigation Archives (the stories of Zhang Dayong and Gao Jie, the first three leading actors, were coherent, adding up to only 100 episodes), and the heroines of both dramas were Guo Keying, which also won wide acclaim. No other actress can challenge this record.
Guo Keying's interpretation of this character in the whole hundred episodes is also a challenge to the contrast of personality. Gao Jie's performance in the first two detective investigation files is almost different from that in the third after Gao Jie's amnesia. In Genesis, two characters, Cen Xinying and Gao Meina, also have their own level. Xin Ying first fell in love with Ye Rongtian, and then Helen fell in love with it. Generally speaking, Xin Ying's character is weak with toughness. For example, I helped in Tian Li Century. In order to meet Wen Biao's requirements, I hope to do some business.
The starling in the second half is another kind, which hides delicacy and thoughtfulness in her cheerful and lively careless personality, especially after getting familiar with Ye Rongtian, hoping to change her personality and even deliberately imitate some characteristics of Xin Ying. In fact, they are two opposing figures, but Guo Keying is good at catching them. For example, Xin Ying's longing for the outside world and the children in prison are an excellent interpretation. Because of the double blow from his father, Gao Shuigen and Ye, the relationship between myna and Ye is very contradictory. The endings of the two heroines are both impressive with an unexpected sensational paragraph.
Tian Ning, who has an important relationship with Ma Zhiqiang and Zhang Zili, was originally a girl who came out to work hard. Ye Rongtian was a short and hazy hope in her life. Later, she was able to devote herself to a punk like Zhang Zili, which showed that Tian Ning kept a simple side. Although Tian Ning had reservations about Zhang Zili's revenge, he came to Hongkong by his own efforts and participated in the revenge plan. As a result, he acted as the victim.
From amnesia to memory recovery, Tian Ning was not disappointed with Zhang Zili. When she told Ye Rongtian about the status quo of self-reliance, she repeatedly indicated that the essence of self-reliance is a good person, and even chose to marry self-reliance, thinking that it can be saved by feelings. In fact, when Tian Ning was moved by Zhiqiang after his amnesia, from the moment he chose Zhiqiang to get married, Zhang Zili had resented Tian Ning, because the closest people in the world except his mother and Wen Biao betrayed him. This change has little to do with Tian Ning's exposure of self-reliance, because self-reliance has gone further and further on the road of revenge. Obviously, Tian Ning's personality has also undergone great changes, with rich levels, especially when he was tortured to the point of collapse by Zhang Zili in the final stage, and Ada Choi's acting skills were amazing.
In addition, there is a more important part in the whole play, which is Chen Huishan's performance of Helen. For Ye Rongtian, Cen Xinying and Helen missed it one after another, which is a sign of Ye Rongtian's growth. In fact, Ye Rongtian has always loved Xin Ying, which may be the conventional mentality of feeling precious after loss. At first, he cared more about his career and ignored the women around him, including his family. Although Tian Rong does have a great responsibility for his family, Helen has been an emotional substitute for a long time. In the episode of Wen Biao's death and Xin Ying's imprisonment, the emotional secret that Tian Rong has endured for a long time broke out completely. In spite of this, Helen still stuck by Ye Rongtian's side, which further showed her kindness and feelings. Unfortunately, Ye Rongtian still didn't cherish it. By the time he understood everything and wanted to fight for it again, Helen could no longer accept him, otherwise the play would be too bloody.
Supporting role: Gold and green leaves are outstanding.
As a way to promote the family business war in a long 100 episode, the rise and fall of Ye Xiaoli's family is the most important "opposite play" between Genesis and the protagonist Ye Rongtian.
Qin Pei, an old actor, plays Ye Xiaoli. This role is the most important green leaf in the whole play, and its influence is much more wonderful than that of his father Ye. In the play, Ye Xiaoli hated one family twice and made up twice. The starting point is "family". He doesn't preach like Tian Rong's father. He has a successful career, excellent ability and brain, and his three sons are probably not as good as him. Deep down, Ye Xiaoli regrets what she did in the past, so she loves her family very much and even excuses her mistakes. As a result, it hurts other family members. Qin Pei has well grasped Ye Xiaoli's calm, impulsive, cunning and complex personality, and is a very rich and distinct role.
Ye Jinrong, the eldest son played by Ma Dezhong, is a very successful portrayal of his supporting role in TVB for many years. His arrogance is superficial, and both his wife and son can be his tools. Generally speaking, the characters are facial, but Ma Dezhong's performance is very eye-catching and has a delicate side. For example, he is too selfish to save his own son. When he arrived at the hospital, he fainted. There is also a scene where he shows his cards to his father at home. Ma Dezhong's resentment, fear, pressure and slight regret towards his father Ye Xiaoli are quite touching, which represents his analysis and interpretation of the formation of Ye's character.
The scene of the second leaf is mainly in the first half, and there is almost no sense of existence in front. It was not until the last ten episodes that he began to steal the limelight. The actor is also a passer-by for many years, and Ye has already played a lot. The gloomy image is in place in his performance. Personally, I think there are three excellent scenes. The first thing is that the boss Ye got drunk and was beaten, and he fell out with Xu Wenbiao. He passed by the door in elegant clothes and pulled Wen Biao up from the ground. The second is to meet Wen Biao alone. Wen Biao is eager to get Ye Yirong's support. This dialogue unexpectedly put Wen Biao at a disadvantage, especially when Ye Yirong said that "unless you are God, you can change Joe" and other classic lines, the language was amazing. Wen Biao didn't expect this second child to be so heartless. The third scene is that after Xin Ying's death, Ye Rongtian retaliates crazily. He found Ye for help and was caught by Ye. Rushed to the villa with an iron pipe and was caught by Ye's bodyguard. Ye Yirong put on sunglasses. The performance of humiliation and arrogance is also amazing!
The third son, Ye Rongheng, and his two brothers are different types, both honest and kind. His relationship with tina is a big line in the first half. Joe's appearance began to look like a dude, but his appearance was a cover-up. Later, I fell into a family whirlpool, especially Tina, who was married with outstanding work ability and was regarded as a thorn in my side by my eldest brother. Nicky Wu's acting didn't improve much, at least he made Joe's simplicity and kindness more credible.
Compared with Ye Xiaoli's family, Ye's family is still harmonious. But he was dragged into various contradictions, and Ye always supported his son until he chased Ye like crazy. Dad is very disappointed in him. The scene of going to worship Ye was really shocking. It is said that not only Ye, but also his son lay in it, which finally made him start to reflect.
The second son, Ye Rongze, is similar to his eldest brother in that he is stubborn and incompetent. He once only wanted to be an athlete. After being cut off, I was traumatized and fell into endless complaints. Later, I was taken care of by Tian Rong and entered this company. I still haven't learned much technology, and I haven't recovered at all. Finally, I was used by Zhang Zili.
In order to foil the subjective arrogance, Ye, who plays the role, can hardly stay at home. After coming back from abroad, Yawen really looked mature and contributed a lot to the establishment of a smoke-free city. It's a pity that he died in the injustice of others.
Others, such as Huo, are also talked about by the audience. The most powerful role of Guo Feng's life performance should be him, and many classic lines come from him; Gao Shuigen played by you and Uncle Jin played by you are both happy characters. Of course, both of them are ultimately involved in self-reliance. Lisa, played by Wang Mingquan, is the most rational and moralistic person except Ye Rongtian's father, but she has a good grasp and won't make people feel disgusted. Xiaofen, the independent half-sister played by Xueer later, is also a kind and simple girl next door, but her personality deduction level is slightly thin.
On the whole, Genesis, the masterpiece, is still a TV series that interprets mainstream values, returning to the right path, kindness, affection and true love. That year was also the second feature-length Hong Kong TV series broadcast by CCTV after the reunification.
