What language is used locally in Yanji? Is it Korean or local language?
Yanji has a population of only 400,000, of which more than 60% are Koreans. All the plaque signs on the street are written in Chinese and French, with fresh language in the front (above) and Chinese in the back (below), which may reflect our national policy of respecting ethnic minorities. The students here are all bilingual and fresh in Chinese. I want to know what is the main official language of Yanbian?
Yanji's city is very small, which is similar to the area of Xinchengzi District in Shenyang. A river named "Burhatong" runs through the city from east to west, dividing the city into Henan and Hebei. The political, economic and cultural center of Yanji is concentrated in Hebei. A north-south river divides Hebei into two parts. The name of this river is Yanji, which is also the origin of Yanji city. It is said that Yanji City is located in the basin, and the smoke from the kitchen chimney hangs over the houses every morning and evening, so it is called "smoke collection".
Because it is located in the border area between China and North Korea, the economic input of the national economy is relatively slow and the economic development is not very fast. From the level of street architecture, it feels similar to the level of urban architecture in Shenyang in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Jindalai Square, which was built to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Autonomous Prefecture, is very spectacular, which is not in harmony with the whole city architecture. There is a big gap between the overall level of the city and Dandong, which is also a border city between China and North Korea. The taxi fare is 5 yuan, and you can't go anywhere in this city more than 5 yuan and 7 yuan.
Although it is a small city, the food consumption price is close to Shenyang, the urban housing price is not low, and the price in the city center is also 2700~3000 yuan/square meter. Local people complain that the return of local workers to South Korea has raised local housing prices and food prices. It is precisely because of these groups who earn money abroad and return to China for consumption that the business of karaoke bars and bath centers in Yanji City is booming, which makes the nightlife of the small town magnificent.
Because Yanji is a city dominated by fresh-eating ethnic groups, almost all restaurants on the street are Korean restaurants. Fortunately, the pronunciation of Chinese dialects that can be heard here is not far from that of Shenyang, and there is no strange feeling, while the simple local folk customs make people feel more cordial.
I didn't find any industrial products in Yanji, but there are many local products such as ginseng, velvet antler, mushrooms and fungus in Changbai Mountain.
