Where does Fuling Buffalo belong?
Fuling Buffalo is native to Fuling County, Mingyu in Nanchuan County and Pingqiao in Wulong County. Fuling county is located in the southwest corner of Chongqing, with good natural conditions and mild climate. Annual average temperature 17.5℃, annual average rainfall 107 1mm, frost-free period of more than 295 days, long sunshine time. Crops mainly produce rice, corn and wheat, and potatoes and beans are also abundant. The production area mainly belongs to the Tiaoshangou area in eastern Sichuan, and the paddy field is large, especially in Pingba area. The field is large and the mud is deep, so it needs cattle with large size, long working hours and strong pulling force. Therefore, farmers in producing areas pay special attention to the selection and cultivation of cattle. The production area is rich in pasture, which creates good feed conditions for the formation of Fuling buffalo.
Distribution: Fuling buffalo are widely distributed in Dianjiang, Fengdu, Fuling and Nanchuan counties along the Yangtze River in Fuling area.
Breed characteristics: Fuling buffalo is larger, slightly shorter, with wide front chest and flat back. The coat is mostly blue and yellowish brown, with a small amount of reed flowers and white, and the skin is thin and shiny. The head is square, the mouth is thick and short, and the angle is splayed or disc-shaped. The limbs are thick, the hooves are black, mostly wooden bowls, and there are also cut hooves. The tail root is thick and the tail is slender.
Fuling Buffalo is a famous local breed for service in China.
