Location of Yadong River Scenic Spot in Guangzhou

Yadong River is located in an ecological design town in Conghua District, Guangzhou.

Yadong River, which originates from the northern foot of Conghua Paradise, is one of the important tributaries of Liuxi River, with a total length of about 10.6 km, and flows through Liangping Village, Tang Wei Village and Liang Ming Village, with superior natural resources.

However, for a long time, problems such as illegal planting of Yadong River and obstacles set by villagers have been accumulating, which has caused adverse consequences such as vegetation destruction, soil erosion, water pollution, river siltation and river encroachment, seriously damaging the ecological environment on both sides of the strait, easily causing floods, threatening flood safety and endangering the production and life safety of nearby villagers.

Ma Lian village yushui garden

The design of ecological rain garden project takes water as the breakthrough point, aiming at the site problem, trying to create a kind and leisurely waterfront space, regain the water narrative tradition of Lingnan countryside, and explore the integration of rural public activities and ecological landscape.

In order to store rainwater in situ and digest the problems of drought and flood, Ma Lian Village solved the problem of water accumulation in low-lying land by simple excavation and filling, and formed a "sponge" system combining low-lying land and high land. Through simple filling and excavation, terraces can be established to slow down the surface runoff down the hillside, reduce the intensity of flood peak and adjust the seasonal rainwater flow.

Determine the direction, form and depth of terraced fields according to geological, topographic factors and water flow analysis. These terraced habitats are planted with native vegetation according to different water quality and soil environment to slow down the water flow and make pollutants and nutrients in the water absorbed by soil microorganisms and plants.
