The key to success is choice, and the basis of choice is cognitive upgrading
My last article mentioned that a monthly salary of hundreds of thousands is not enough. Hard work alone is not enough, you must also make the right choice.
So the question is, how can we make the right choice? Why do some people always make the right choice, while others always make the wrong choice? Is it all luck? Definitely not.
The basis for making the right choice is awareness upgrade.
It’s too difficult to let you know that you don’t know enough.
In most cases, people don’t know that they don’t know enough.
I wrote a paragraph some time ago:
A man who was born blind, someone took him to the sun,
The blind man felt the heat, and the man told He, this is the sun.
The blind man understands: Oh, the sun is hot.
The blind man passed by a stove and felt the heat. He asked: Is this the sun?
The man told him: No, the sun is round.
Blind man: Oh, the round and hot thing is the sun.
The man also explained: The sun is in the sky, and the sun will shine, red in the morning, white at noon, and red again at night.
The blind man is confused: Where is the sky? Is it red or yellow. What is glow? Can anyone clarify? You're lying to me, there's no sun.
We are often the blind ones. If we can’t see it or perceive it with our naked eyes, then we don’t know. The person who can see tells the blind person in words, but the blind person still does not believe it. So let us know that we don’t know enough, and this is too difficult.
The Buddha said that he has five eyes
The Buddha said that he has five functions in his heart, which are called five eyes. They are the physical eye, the heavenly eye, the wisdom eye, the Dharma eye and the Buddha's eye. Buddha is really powerful. He has more eyes than us mortals, so his cognition is better than ours. What does the five eyes mean?
The naked eye is our current eye. The physical world can be seen with the naked eye. Mountains are mountains, water is water, and sand is sand. The Buddha said that one grain of sand is one world, but that cannot be seen through the naked eye. If one can see one grain of sand and one world, that is deception. What you see is what you see.
Heavenly Eye is the ability to see things beyond the material world. For example, the sun, the moon, people and things on other planets. Or you can see ghosts, gods, etc. Some things we don't know are called the eyes of the Buddha. Now science has also proved that the moon has materials other than those on the earth. The Buddha said thousands of years ago that the moon can also be seen with the heavenly eye.
The eye of wisdom is the eye of wisdom. It is the eye of wisdom and the power of precepts, concentration, and wisdom that appear. Because of practice and enlightenment, only then can we have the power of wisdom. If you understand many truths, such as knowing that you have a bad temper, greed, anger, and ignorance, then you have wisdom, and your cognition will naturally become stronger.
The Dharma Eye is to see that all living beings are equal and neither empty nor existent. On the basis of enlightenment, if you truly reach a state of wisdom, you will have the Dharma Eye.
Buddha Eyes not only achieve equality, but also have compassion, supreme kindness, and unconditional equality for all sentient beings. This is called great mercy and compassion, and you have Buddha Eyes.
The more you know, the smarter you will naturally be.
Buddha is smarter than the blind man because he has five more eyes than the blind man. The more you see, the more you know, and naturally you know more than others.
During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, there was a doctor named Bian Que. It is said that he once met an immortal and gave him a see-through baby that could see the internal organs of a person, so his diagnosis would not be wrong. . Later, there were many records after the Tang Dynasty. Some people's eyes were born with the ability to read Feng Shui, and they could see down several meters deep, and could clearly see underground mountains.
Modern medicine and modern science have also invented such things, one is called X-ray and the other is called an underground detector.
Why were these two things invented? We just want to know more so that we can make a more accurate judgment.
Closer to the truth
When many of us encounter a problem, we first don’t know anything, and then we see the appearance. In fact, there is still a gap between low-level cognition and high-level knowledge between the truth. Cognition.
A former colleague complained to me: My boss is too stupid. If he does this project, he will definitely die.
Some colleagues complained to me: That colleague is too bad, how can he make such a judgment? There must be something wrong with this.
Generally speaking, 80% of the reasons for this situation are information asymmetry and misunderstanding. The boss may have more information, but my colleague does not, so I think the decision made by the boss is stupid. In fact, I don’t know who is stupid.
In the same way, 80% of cases where colleagues don’t understand each other when working together is because their cognitions are not on the same level. Everyone needs to communicate with each other about the information they know and synchronize their cognitions, and that will solve the problem. Problem.
Model for improving cognition
The first level is information. Improving our knowledge requires a lot of information, and the more the better, which means knowing more. Why do we often read books? Reading is a kind of input of information. Not only reading books, but also reading web pages and public accounts, especially my official account, are all input of information.
Not only do you have to see things, but you also need to communicate more with others. If others tell you what they saw, you will also have input of information. This is also a way to improve your cognition.
The second level is knowledge. There is a huge amount of information, and it is easy to forget the information we have read, and there is also a lot of useless information that can interfere with our cognition. Therefore, we have to process information and form our own knowledge. It is best if the knowledge can be ready-made into a network, and different knowledge points can be connected with each other to form a surface, so that the knowledge can be remembered firmly.
The third level, principles. Then the knowledge is filtered, summarized, and abstracted, and then principles are formed. The principle is often just one sentence. For example, this article has a lot of information, and the principle is just one sentence: increase the input of information, improve your own cognition, and increase the accuracy of your choices.
The fourth layer is application. All inputs require outputs, and they are only valuable if the principles are applied in practice. Test your knowledge again in practice so that you can complement each other.
Finally, I would like to recommend an article to everyone, "Growth is Cognitive Upgrading" of the "Cognitive Trilogy" written by Fu Sheng (Cheetah CEO), I think it is very valuable. In the conversation column of my public account, the reply was: the word "cognition". I will push this article to you.
