Introduction to Cihu Jiang Ling

Cihu Chiang Mausoleum is Chiang Kai-shek’s mausoleum in Cihu, Taiwan. After Chiang Kai-shek's death in 1975, he was not buried. His coffin was temporarily placed in the Cihu Mausoleum in Daxi Town, Taoyuan County, Taiwan Province, China, waiting for the opportunity to be buried in his hometown. Jiang is a native of Fenghua, Zhejiang, China. According to the customs in Jiangsu and Zhejiang, if a person dies in a foreign land and cannot be buried in his hometown for the time being, he will be buried in a floating house first. The so-called floating house method means that the coffin is raised three inches from the ground and raised at the four corners. This burial method was adopted so that descendants could easily move and bury their ancestors without digging up the soil. Cihu Mausoleum was originally called "Dongkou Hotel" and was completed on June 13, 1959. In 1962, Chiang Kai-shek wrote "Cihu" in handwriting and changed its name to "Cihu Hotel". Before Chiang Kai-shek's death, it was used as a hotel.
