The EGR valve is usually located on the right side of the intake manifold, close to the throttle body and connected with the intake manifold and the exhaust manifold. The opening of the valve is controlled by a vacuum tube to determine the amount of exhaust gas delivered to the intake manifold.

It can reduce the temperature of the combustion chamber, improve the working efficiency of the engine, improve the combustion environment, reduce the burden on the engine, effectively reduce the emission of carbon monoxide compounds, reduce knock and prolong the service life of all components by introducing the exhaust gas discharged from engine combustion into the intake manifold.

In order to avoid the excessive influence of exhaust gas recirculation on engine performance, modern electronically controlled engines also adopt closed-loop control strategy for exhaust gas recirculation. The EGR valve position sensor is arranged on the exhaust gas recirculation valve. Through the sensor, the opening and closing of EGR valve can be adjusted according to different working conditions of the engine, and the actual amount of exhaust gas recirculation can be closed-loop, corrected, fed back and controlled.
