The arid areas in northwest China include Xinjiang, Qinghai, Gansu, Ningxia, the north of Shaanxi Qinling, the west of Inner Mongolia and the west of Shanxi, accounting for more than one third of the country's total area, and the main deserts in China are distributed in this area.

Among them, Sichuan Basin is the most densely populated, convenient and economically developed area in this region.
