Where is the Shang Dynasty monarch Taijia buried? Introduction to Taijia Mausoleum
In the southeast of the picturesque Zhonggong Wohu Mountain Reservoir in Jinan, there is Taijia Mountain. It stands at the throat of the confluence of Jinxiu, Jinyang and Jinyun rivers, surrounded by mountains and springs. The origin of the name Taijia Mountain is derived from Guli Mountain.
"Book of the Later Han Dynasty·Annals of Prefectures and Countries" notes "Huang Lan" and says: There is a tomb in Taijia on Mount Li, and it is attached under Guoli City in Jinan.
"Tongdian" also says: There is Taijia Tomb in Mount Li. Later, Guli Mountain disappeared, and the folk legend changed and the tomb was placed in Taijia Mountain, more than 40 miles south of Licheng.
According to folklore, Taijia’s son was very unfilial and would never listen to his father’s words. When Taijia asked him to go east, he would go to the west. When he was asked to beat dogs, he would chase away chickens. In order to educate, Taijia Well, this son, I have been angry with him all my life, but it didn't work out in the end.
Until Taijia was about to die, he asked Mr. Feng Shui to choose a good cemetery for him, which was at the foot of the mountain by the South Spring. Taijia also took a fancy to this place where the three rivers converged, and wanted to be buried at the foot of the mountain. His son always contradicted him, so he told his son that he must build his tomb on the top of the mountain. The implication was that he expected his son to bury him by the Nanquan at the bottom of the mountain. After the explanation, Taijia closed his eyes with peace of mind. .
Unexpectedly, the son felt remorseful after his father's death. He felt that he had been ashamed of his father for most of his life. He thought to himself: When his father was alive, he had never heard of him once. Listen to him this time! So, he buried Taijia on the highest mountain peak according to Taijia's instructions. This is why Taijia Mausoleum was built on the highest mountain peak. Later, this mountain became Taijia Mountain.
The villagers are convinced that there is a Taijia Mausoleum on Taijia Mountain, while experts hold another view. Fang Daoguo, a research librarian at the Jinan Archaeological Institute, said that Taijia Mountain Although the theory of going to the Taijia Mausoleum has been widely circulated by the villagers, whether it is true or not has yet to be verified by the archaeological department. Subsequent inspections revealed that there were only two large holes on the top of the mountain. Based on the situation, it was judged that these two potholes were very likely. It was dug by grave robbers. It is not known what they found.
Nearby villagers said that in the past few years, some people went up the mountain to rob tombs and dig holes on the top of the mountain. As a result, the deeper they dug, the more the soil collapsed. Later, people did not dare to dig anymore, but some people said Taijia Mausoleum has long been stolen.
Apart from these two potholes, no other relevant evidence has been found on the entire mountain to show that there is Taijia Tomb here.
The predecessors had long doubted the above legend. Sun Xingyan believed that this statement was wrong in "Taijia Mausoleum Research". He pointed out that Taijia's mausoleum should be in Lishan, northeast of Heze. "Licheng County Chronicles" and the poet Dong Yun also disagreed with Taijia Mausoleum, saying that there are no tombs on the mountain, which is really right and wrong. Dong Yun once wrote "Taijia Mausoleum Debate" and "Taijia Mausoleum". The poem said: Who is the stone path? Leaning on a thin vine, a monk in the sunset with scattered pines and residual snow. The empty mountain has no traces of ancient times. Who will pay tribute to the Taijia Mausoleum? That is to say, there have been no mausoleums in this mountain since ancient times, so why is Taijia involved? Later, Jinan poet Qiao Yue made another unsuccessful investigation and said that there was no way to find Taijia Mausoleum.
After sorting out the above statements, the reason why the legend of Taijia Mausoleum arose was because the predecessors mistakenly attached Taijia Mausoleum under the Guoli City of Jinan, and the Guli Mountain in Jinan , the reputation is so great that Nanshan Tong has the name of "Li". Taijia Mountain and the Shang King's Tomb are just distant attachments.
As an early king of the Shang Dynasty, Taijia’s deeds were remarkable. Judging from the Yin Ruins inscriptions, the subsequent Shang kings still respected this monarch very much and offered sacrifices to him. It was also very solemn, and some inscriptions recorded that it was also offered as a sacrifice together with other accomplished monarchs of the Shang Dynasty.
