Is it better to have odd or even numbers for the screens in the lobby?
Even numbers are good.
Good things come in pairs, and even numbers are more auspicious. For home screens, use even numbers for curved screens and odd numbers for seat screens.
A curved screen is a foldable screen, also called a soft screen, a surrounding screen, or a folding screen. It is different from the hard screen in that it does not have a base and is composed of an even number, with at least two or four leaves and up to dozens of leaves. Each screen is connected with brocade crosses. The characteristic of this method is that the screen can be folded 360 degrees in two directions, so it is more flexible in use and is mostly used for temporary display.
The seat screen is also called the "Badama" screen, which is a screen with an "eight" shaped base. Most of them consist of odd numbers, with a minimum of three and a maximum of nine. Usually the middle one is higher, and the others decrease in sequence to both sides. This kind of screen was installed in the main hall of each palace in the imperial palace. There were thrones, incense tables, palace fans, pendants, etc. in front of them to form a set of solemn furnishings. In the screen category, it has the highest grade. In the palace, it is a symbol of the supreme power of the emperor; in the palace of the prince, it is a symbol of the throne and status.
