Couplet story 58, eliminating disasters and avoiding disasters.

(1) The Day of Cloud Opening

In the winter of the second year of Jingtai in the Ming Dynasty (in 1451), Han Yong, the imperial adviser of Youjidu, visited Jiangxi. It is reasonable that when he visited Nanchang death row, it snowed heavily outside, and he immediately sang:

Ice on the water, ice and snow, making things worse

Sing, but I can't tell the bottom couplet. At this time, he saw a prisoner crying, and asked, "Why are you crying?" The prisoner said, "What adults say about' water, ice, snow and frost' is really a death row situation, and I feel sad after listening to it. "

Han Yong thought this man had an extraordinary speech, so he asked," Do you have the heart to survive? " The prisoner handed in his hand and said,

Fog is rising in the air, and clouds are gathering.

Hearing this, Han Yong praised happily: "Talent! Talent! " He transferred the death row file and found that this man was a talented person in Nanchang. He was retaliated for exposing the bribery of government officials, was falsely accused of rebellion and was sentenced to death. Han Yong was in charge of justice, vindicated him, and lenient the Nanchang magistrate. For death row inmates, it's really a "cloud to see the day".

(2) Answering to comfort my father

Cha Guozhen is an outstanding leader of our army and has made immortal contributions to China's liberation cause. He was born in a peasant family in Dabie Mountain, and his family was very poor. Cha Guozhen was smart and studious since he was a child, and he read some poetry books with his father since he was nine years old. One year, until New Year's Eve, Cha Guozhen's father was still running around, and the whole family only borrowed a bag of millet for the New Year. Looking at the present situation, my father felt very sad and got the determination to live. He called Xiaozhuo Zhen to him, sighed a long time, and asked Guozhen in a couplet:

When will the paulownia tree bear fruit?

Guo Zhen listened to his father's words with sadness. He knew that the paulownia tree would never bear fruit. What his father asked was: Will you be poor all your life? So, he immediately made a couplet and showed his opinion to his father: < P > A crooked bamboo root holding a straight bamboo shoot makes a forest in January.

Bamboo grows very fast, and it takes only one month for bamboo shoots to become bamboo. It means: there is hope, and you will not be poor forever. The father listened to his son's words and thought it was really reasonable. The older generation has been a "curved bamboo root" all their lives, and they can't stand the waist pole of life. Can't the next generation break through the ground like a "straight bamboo shoot" and flourish into a bamboo forest? The son's words showed his ambition, made his father see hope and gave up the idea of suicide.

(3) poor scholar's sentence transfer

There was a learned scholar who failed to pass the customs because he was poor and had no money. I had to travel to Jiangnan to make a living by teaching.

One night, the scholar stayed in an inn and started a conversation with a roommate. The guest said, "Since your husband came to study in Jiangnan, he must be full of poems. I have a couplet to make a fool of myself. I hope it is right." The scholar smiled and said, "Please!" It was the mid-autumn night on August 15th, and the moonlight was particularly bright. The guests looked at the bright moon outside the window and read:

The autumn moon is like a plate, and people are in the curling shadow;

when the scholar heard this, he suddenly saw a picture of birds in the spring mountain hanging in the indoor bed tent, and immediately said to him,

The spring mountain is picturesque, and birds fly in the brocade curtain.

The guest was overjoyed and asked the shopkeeper for food and wine. The two of them drank wine and enjoyed the moon. They talked very speculatively and were not tired. The guest invited the scholar out again, strolled under the stars and the moon, and came to a pond, where the level was like a mirror, and the guest went out again:

The small marsh sank the stars, like a fairy dropping gold chess pieces;

The scholar looked down and saw Gu Song at the top of the mountain, and immediately made a couplet:

Gu Song hangs the moon, like an old dragon holding a luminous pearl.

As they walked and chatted, they came to the river beach. At this moment, someone rode by, and the guests raised dust by stepping on the sand:

The horse stepped on the sand on the shore, and the wind came back;

The scholar recalled the scene of taking a night boat, and skillfully replied:

When the oar broke Jiang Xinyue, the water would be restored.

it's late at night, so they can go back to the store to have a rest. The next morning, the scholar woke up and the guest was no longer there. The scholar was wondering, and suddenly a business official came and said respectfully to the scholar, "Please dismount, sir, and please welcome your Excellency!" The scholar was baffled, and got a horse on the lake. It was only after he met the patrol's adult that he realized that the guest who stayed with him last night was the patrol's adult who visited privately. Tour press appreciated the scholar's knowledge very much, so he made him a state inspector.

(4) Half-deputy to the Joint Protection Temple

When a senior official from the south of the Yangtze River went to Beijing to play in a temple, he saw a monk living in the east wing and a nun living in the west wing, so he wrote a couplet on the wall:

East monk, west nun, consensual, and smeared

and claimed that when he came back,

Monks and nuns can't be right. They are worried that once the temple is destroyed, the bodhisattva statues and themselves will have nowhere to settle down.

there are endless roads. While the monks and nuns were at their wits' end, a scholar who came to Beijing to catch the exam came to spend the night in the temple. The scholar knew the advance of couplets, read the couplets written by senior officials and saw the situation in the temple. He found that this temple is really a little different, not just a monk and a nun, but both monks and nuns live in the same temple. Moreover, the back building of the temple is dedicated to Guanyin Bodhisattva, while the front building is dedicated to the statue of Amitabha. Monks worship Amitabha and nuns worship Guanyin, and each has its own affairs. The scholar thought that the senior official was also troubled. Write the next couplet next to the couplets of senior officials:

Go to Guanyin, go to Mituo, each protect his own master, and clean up the half couplet of the scholar in vain, thus saving the temple. Monks and nuns are very grateful.

(5) Saving the Tavern by One Union

According to legend, there used to be a Dongxing Tavern in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, which was about to close down due to poor business, and the whole family was worried about it. The pub owner cried and took down the pub sign. It happened that a poet passed by and asked why he had taken off his signboard. When the restaurant explained the reason, the poet smiled and said, "I can make your pub prosper!" " The restaurant said, "No kidding, what can you do?" The poet asked the restaurant to bring pen and ink and red paper, and wrote a pair of couplets:

No matter what the wine tube is,

Drink it whether it is prosperous or not.

Then he wrote "Dongxing Pub" in four big characters on the horizontal batch. Passers-by stopped to meditate when they saw this conspicuous couplet. Because this pair of couplets just catered to the existence of complaints in society at that time, no matter who they were looking for, some people had to drown their sorrows in wine. Therefore, this pub was filled with customers and prospered.

(6) Who is the drunk

Once upon a time, there was a buddhist nun, where a nun of seventeen or eighteen lived. She was very delicate and elegant, and people called her Xiugu. The county magistrate also heard that Xiugu was beautiful, so he wanted to take her as his concubine. Let the matchmaker send gold, silver, silks and satins, but Xiugu won't accept them. The matchmaker talks sweet words, but Xiugu doesn't listen. The county grandfather was ashamed and angry, so he made a ban: "Xiugu is not allowed to talk and associate with men." Since then, buddhist nun has been under surveillance, and Xiugu has been watched like a prisoner. One day, Xiugu went out to fetch water and saw a drunken man fall at the gate of the nunnery. She quickly helped him into my bedroom, let him lie on my bed, fetch him water to wash his face and make tea to sober up. "AnShao" quickly report magistrate of a county. When the magistrate heard that Xiugu helped a man to bed, she was so jealous that she went into a rage and quickly ordered, "Hurry! Give me Xiugu! " Soon, Xiugu was taken to court. She put her hands together and asked the county magistrate, "What is the crime of a commoner? Why did you escort me to court? " The county magistrate clapped his hands and said, "Do you still ask me? I want to ask you: who is that drunk who dares to put it in your room? Don't you know the sin of changing customs like this? " Xiugu leisurely read a pair of couplets. After thinking for a long time, the county grandfather suddenly woke up and said, "Let her go back! Retreat! " Xiugu's couplet is:

Drunk wife and brother, uncle nun

Uncle nun's drunk wife

Excuse me, can you tell who the drunkard is from Xiugu?

(7) Argument against false sentences

In the Qing Dynasty, there was a gifted scholar named Lin Zhaotang, who was from wuchuan city, Guangdong Province. His father was very strict with him. Once, someone told his father that he was very unruly in front of girls, and hoped that more discipline would be exercised at home to avoid causing something beneath his dignity. His father was very angry when he heard this, so he had Zhao Tang called in and wanted to give him a good scolding. When Zhao Tang came in, his father thought, things have not been proved yet, so we can't be indiscriminate. So, a couplet was sent out to test and let the son come right. The first part is:

slave hands are slaps, so don't slap slave hands randomly

Lin Zhaotang guessed that someone had falsely accused me, and his father conducted an "investigation", which was an opportunity for me to defend myself. So, for the following connection:

People's words are trustworthy, so we can't trust people's words

After hearing it, my father felt that it was right and reasonable, and continued to send people to understand the general situation. Finally, it proved that Lin Zhaotang was indeed falsely accused.

(8) Lucky Official

When Ding Baozhen was the governor of Sichuan in the Qing Dynasty, one day he saw a couplet on the street of Chengdu:

Ten-year official was colder than plum blossom

One night in the spring, firecrackers came along

After he returned to my official's office, he sent someone to investigate and see if it was the residence of the alternate official. Why didn't he let people wait for "ten years"? After finding out the name, I searched the official's son's official roster, but there was no such person. I guess he is not good at pandering, and several officers don't know him, so that even the newly created roster has missed him. Finally, from the old book ten years ago, it was found that it was a Jinshi and an alternate magistrate. Therefore, he was officially appointed as the magistrate of a county.

The old Jinshi received the letter of appointment and came to thank him, but he couldn't guess which adult "cultivated" him. Ding Baozhen said, "Don't make wild guesses. Congratulations on' coming with firecrackers one night in spring', go and take office! " Only then did he realize that it was my couplet that led to the funeral.
