Tunnel construction can only be carried out from the entrance and exit, without auxiliary construction conditions such as inclined shaft, crossing the 12 fault.

In 2008, the construction of Dazhushan Tunnel started. Due to the harsh construction environment, the construction period was once adjusted from the initial 5.5 years to 8 years, and then adjusted to 13 years again, which was considered as the "most difficult tunnel to dig".

On the morning of June 26th, 2009, the horizontal lead of Dazhushan Tunnel was successful, which laid a solid foundation for the overall completion of the whole tunnel in 2020. In 2020, the Dazhushan Tunnel of Darrouy Railway will be completed.

After the completion of the Darrouy Railway, it will reshape the glory of the ancient Southern Silk Road, further highlight Yunnan's role as a bridge and link connecting Southeast Asia and South Asia, and promote economic and social development along the route.
