Laoshan District is located in the eastern part of Qingdao City. It is a new district established during the administrative division adjustment of Qingdao City in April 1994. It has a land area of 395.8 square kilometers, a sea area of 3,700 square kilometers, and a coastline of 103.7 kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 5 sub-district offices including Jinjialing, Zhonghan, Shashakou, Wanggezhuang and Beizhai.
In addition to producing food, agriculture mainly provides vegetables, fruits and livestock products to cities. Laoshan District is named after the Laoshan Mountain in the territory. It has crisscrossing mountains, steep peaks, towering ancient trees, seas and mountains, nine palaces, eight views, seventy-two nunneries and other places of interest. It is known as "the most famous mountain on the sea".
