Haikou crater geopark information

Haikou Shishan Volcano Group National Geopark is located in Shishan Town, west of xiuying district, Haikou City, about 20 kilometers away from downtown Haikou. It is a geological relic of graben-rift type basic volcanic activity, and it is also one of the few dormant volcanic groups with volcanic eruption activities in Holocene (6.5438+0 million years ago) in China. Volcanoes in the area were formed by volcanic eruption from 6,543,800 years ago to 6,543,800 years ago, covering an area of about 654.38+0.08 square kilometers. They are rich in high-quality drinking mineral water and hot water in health resorts, and they preserve tropical virgin forests and unique basalt stone houses, which are known as the "green lungs" of Haikou City.

There are 34 large and small volcanoes, of which Ma 'anling volcano is the most representative. Ma 'anling is formed by connecting two adjacent volcanoes, so it is named after it looks like a saddle. Ma 'anling crater is 90 meters deep and is one of the most complete extinct volcanoes in the world.

Lava tunnel is mysterious and hidden. There are dozens of lava tunnels in Shishan Volcano Group, among which Xianren Cave, Huolong Cave and Wolong Cave are the most spectacular. Xianren Cave is located in Tang Rong Village, Shishan Town, with a total length of1.200m.. It is named after the legend that Taoist priests cultivate immortals in caves. The fairy cave has a winding path leading to a secluded place, with a hole inside and a sky outside. The ancient banyan trees at the entrance of the fire dragon cave cover the sky, and the lava in the cave is varied. Wolong Cave is flat and wide, and two large trucks can drive into the cave at the same time, which can accommodate more than 10,000 people.
