The constellation has changed. Should we use the previous constellation or the newly changed one?

It should be based on the previous one

Recently, a so-called "new zodiac chart" appeared out of nowhere. The dates of most zodiac signs have been moved back. The addition of an Ophiuchus constellation is very "magical". It made everyone confused - is it the twelve constellations or the thirteen constellations? Where did Ophiuchus come from? What is my zodiac sign?

I am an astronomy enthusiast. Let me explain to you the principle of "zodiac sign date conversion". Don't panic, what zodiac sign you were before is still what zodiac sign you are now~~

The twelve constellations in astrology are actually divided into twelve constellations. In astrology theory, the reason that affects human personality and other characteristics is not "the constellation where the sun is at birth", but "where the sun is at birth." the ecliptic position”. Astrology mainly studies the sun and the ecliptic, not the constellations themselves.

Then why does astrology use constellation names to divide intervals? There are two reasons:

1. Europeans like to name special points on the zodiac and solar calendar after constellations. For example, the summer solstice and winter solstice are named after "Cancer" and "Capricorn" respectively ( The words are Cancer and Capricorn. If you don’t believe it, you can look it up, just like Wenquxing).

2. The "zodiac sign" in astrology is actually the "star palace". The English so-and-so palace and so-and-so constellation are the same word. When translated, so-and-so constellation is bigger than so-and-so constellation. Palace sounds easier to pronounce, so Chinese people are used to calling it so-and-so palace. In fact, it is more reasonable to call it so-and-so palace. I will also call it so-and-so palace below, so that everyone can understand it.

When the ecliptic was first divided into segments, it was divided into 12 segments starting from the vernal equinox, one segment for every two solar terms. It just so happens that there is roughly a zodiac sign in each paragraph. Astronomers and astrologers name this section of the zodiac after this constellation, called a certain palace. For example, the Spring Equinox-Gu Yu period is the Aries Palace (that is, 3.21-4.20 in the zodiac chart), the Grain Rain-Xiao Man period is the Metal Palace, and so on. If the time is short, for decades or a hundred years, the positions of the constellations and the ecliptic will almost remain unchanged. It may be for this reason that astronomers name the ecliptic segments after the constellations.

The constellation (horoscope) date table is actually an approximation, because the dates of the 24 solar terms will change slightly every year. For example, the Libra in most constellation tables is (9.23-10.23). You were born on September 23rd, but the autumnal equinox that year was postponed to September 24th, so strictly speaking, you are actually a Virgo.

The time of solar terms can be accurate to the second (can be checked by astronomical software), so there is no problem that people born on the dividing day have difficulty in belonging. For example, the frost day of a certain year is October 23rd at 21:35 pm Minutes and 56 seconds, then people born before this moment belong to Libra, and vice versa, they belong to Scorpio.

Now everyone understands that the so-called "zodiac sign" in astrology is actually the position of the ecliptic where the sun was when you were born. No matter how the constellations change or the earth's axis rotates, the relative relationship between the ecliptic and the sun will not change (the ecliptic itself is generated by the sun). Therefore, the "date table" of astrology does not actually change with the zodiac signs.

As for those statements such as "the change of the earth's axis, the movement of the solar system and the movement of the stars themselves" are really ridiculous. In fact, the only cause of the change in the position of the constellations is the change of the earth's axis.

When the twelve constellations were originally named, more than 2,000 years ago, the constellations rotated about 30 degrees relative to the ecliptic. The vernal equinox used to be exactly between Pisces and Aries (note that it is a constellation, not a star house), but now, it has moved westward between Aquarius and Pisces (if you want to know more, go to Baidu and look up "Equinox moves westward")

As a result, the relative positions of the constellations and the ecliptic have changed, which means that the constellations and the star palaces have been misaligned. Therefore, there is a saying that "the constellation date has changed". However, the "zodiac date" is not originally determined by the constellation, but by the star palace. The star palace is determined by the solar calendar, so how can it change?

Now let me explain that "Ophiuchus". In the current constellation classification, part of Ophiuchus is indeed on the ecliptic. But when the zodiac was originally named, the stars in Ophiuchus were assigned to Scorpio (the left limb of the scorpion).

Now I understand why Scorpio is only so short in the "new watch", but there is an additional Ophiuchus - because some of the stars in Scorpio are assigned to Ophiuchus, which happens to be the stars on the ecliptic.

What the author of the new star catalog said about "Ophiuchus", coupled with the backward movement of the dates of most constellations, made me see at a glance that he combined the concepts of astronomy and astrology, constellations and horoscopes. The practice of forcing them together.

To put it bluntly, the so-called "new constellation table" was formed purely based on the positional relationship between the astronomical constellations and the ecliptic and was mechanically incorporated into astrology. It was probably created by some good person who thought it was a "new discovery". Let’s keep the hype going!

In the true astrological sense, the date division of the "Twelve Constellations Chart" is always based on solar terms and will not change with the constellations at all. Please don't be fooled anymore~~ ! !

PS: Among the 24 solar terms, only the solar term in the second half of the month is the "zodiac dividing point". They are: Vernal Equinox, Grain Rain, Xiaoman, Summer Solstice, Great Heat, End of Heat, Autumnal Equinox, Frost Descent, Light Snow, Winter Solstice, Big cold.

Spring Equinox - Guyu is Aries, and so on.
